This blog is mainly about the spectacular train wreck at The Sacramento Bee and its parent company, the McClatchy Company. But I also post about current events, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, politics, anything else that grabs my attention. Take a look around this blog, hope you enjoy it.

Did Gary Pruitt steal from the Rolling Stones?
I don't know anything about copyright infringement and licensing music. But questions have been raised about Gary Pruitt's use of a Rolling Stones song in a 2008 company video. Click here for more info. . . .

Pruitt loves old men singing old songs, does he?
“If he DID license the song, which probably would've [paid the salary for a McClatchy staffer for an entire year], was that a prudent use of shareholder's funds in such "difficult times?"
There are some photos of Pruitt taken ten years or so ago, that in honesty, I would have to say he looked dapper. Well dresses, well groomed, and very self assured. He doesn’t look like that today. He is wearing down I think. I don’t feel sorry for him mind you, but I doubt he is a bad person, just arrogant, and a man that made a terrible business mistake
Remember this? "CNBC wildman Jim Cramer called Pruitt "a walking disaster...a one-man black hole for shareholder value," and pointed out that McClatchy's stock price has resembled a very steep ski slope for the past year or so—not coincidentally, since Pruitt-led McClatchy bought Knight Ridder. "He has wrecked the company himself,"
Gary Pruitt is a shining example of complete ARROGANCE. He made a devastating error buying Knight Ridder, and now he is blaming everything in sight except himself. He should have been fired when that fact come to light, but instead a failed leader is just digging a deeper hole. Fire his ass, and give someone else a few million to at least try to save MNI.

If they graded Pruitt's performance with looks, he'd be Keith Richards.

I don’t like the Rolling Stones that much. If he paid them a good bit of money for backgroud music, I would be pissed.

he probably did steal it, i mean why not, he stole from the pockets of his employees.
And let's not forget his patronizing use of "You can always get what you want ...." at the end.
It made me sick being forced to watch that last year. And makes make sick thinking about it.
