From the Charlotte Observer corrections department

Somehow I missed this item from last week:
A story in Wednesday's Observer about President Obama marking St. Patrick's Day gave the wrong political party for Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California. She is a Democrat.
Hat tip: Regret the Error

The Palousy Freak Show in a rational political party? Man, that does start my day with a laugh. Nancy looks like she needs a bit more plastic surgery already. I think I saw a small blink. More skin tucked behind her ears, and a shot or two of Botox, will bring the fright girl right back to her scary San FranSissy photo pose.

So now "Never identify a politician as a Democrat unless they've done something good" syndrome has progressed to the point where they are calling Democrats Republicans.

The mainstream print media cannot die quickly enough.

Old Commie Mommy does tend to look a bit tightly wrapped.

At her funeral the compliments will be flying for the undertaker because she'll look exactly the same as when she was alive.

Nanny Palousy would be a funny subject if she wasn't in line for the presidency. A closet chain smoker, and a bipolar old gent, does not inspire much confidence in the future, IMO.

One has to wonder, as these newspapers get thinner and thinner, how much space can be allowed for corrections?

Too many errors! When trying to hold readers, and attract new ones, I would think a double check for correctness is in order. Is this a lack of a proper editor? Not enough staff? Staffers too rushed? Jangles nerves? Newspapers are in flux, and showing their lesser skills is not good business.

Here's a solution: Lay off more copy editors. The AJC was just talking about canning more "production" people to keep more reporters. Great. Newspapers aren't going to be hiring any good reporters. Who in their right mind would head down this road? And, with no copy editors to remind them that the speaker of the house must belong to the majority party...now if we could just "monetize" incompetence.

Yes, I think it's JANGLES NERVES that contributed to the error.

JANGLES NERVES.

Not JANGLED nerves. But JANGLES nerves.

Word up: If you're going to criticize people for making a mistake, spell every single word in your missive correctly.
