Any grown ups in charge of the DC bureau? I don't know how much the geniuses at the DC bureau paid for this idiotic poll, but jeez, what a waste. Especially coming the week the company announced it was giving pink slips to 1600 employees.
The DC bureau went untouched in the last layoff rounds, losing staff only to attrition. Most of my readers think it's time the DC bureau take its share of hits.

It's appropriate that they call their web page Planet Washington. Since they are insulated from us mere mortals who are being slashed and burned at the papers. The problem is they are mainly old KRT people who are used to the high life...yeah the same bunch that has propelled McClatchy to bankruptcy.
If I remember correctly, Mcclatchy bought KRT

I wouldn't BEE to concerned with McClatchy polls anymore. Everyone knows after the elections that McClatchy uses push polls to realize their predetermined outcome. During the elections they were even buying computers for their selected participants.
With almost all of their papers having announced their layoff intentions the total comes to almost half of the 1600 that HQ demanded.
This means, that they will not realize the savings that they announced, which in turn means continued negative earnings, another round of layoffs with delisting and bankruptcy before year's end.
It also means that several publishers will go by the wayside as they were not the "team players" that the company needed to get the job done.
Look at it as a last desperate gasp hoping to take the attention off of Obama for going back on his campaign promises.
In these "challenging economic times," in which "painful cuts" are necessary, the McClatchy Co. must shut down the "redundant" Washington operation in order to "better position itself" as a "21st century multimedia company."

Actually, the DC bureau gets these Ipsos polls for free.
They really need to ask Rush how to attract advertisers and turn a profit.

Free isn't quite the right word. Ipsos costs McClatchy papers more money indirectly though lost credibility than Jason Whitlock sitting in a press box with a sign telling all the fans that their quarterback is gay.
Typical of McClatchy and other so=called MSM. Run a bunch of negative stories, then poll to try and show how bad their target is fareing.
I have invited the editor and the publisher of the Sacramento Bee to poll to see if the general public and/or the readership thiks the Bee is biased to the left in their news pages. So far no dice.
I'm too lazy to calculate the McClatchy readership, but one can assume that more people spend time with Rush Limbaugh than they do with the McClatchy newspapers.
He proclaims his views as conservative, the McClatchy chain claims they are unbiased.
I am sorry to say, the Washington bureau recycles news and photos from what the MAJOR wire services provide to ALL the McClatchy properties across the country every day. Wanna cut a HUGE amount of money? CLOSE that bureau. Plain and simple. The stories, photos and columns are regurgitated crap the MAJOR wires supply, which BTW, the papers PAY for. Sorry, you'll put some people out of business...but they won't be the folks who day in and day out supply the LOCAL CONTENT from reporters who supply information the DC bureau can't. But of course this is WAY over the heads of the powers that be. One of the main problems with the McClathchy Co. good ideas are flushed down the toilet. Obvious choices are denied. If you think I'm wrong loog at the PRICE OF THE STOCK! Idiots are running the company.
If McClatchy wasn't so liberal, it wouldn't be having nearly the problems it's having now. Get with it - this is a conservative country! Stop trying to cram your liberal agenda down everyone's throat!
