@ The Drudge Report
-C-SPAN Founder Brian Lamb says journalists have the thinnest skin of anyone-

George Soros just luvs our economic woes. I wonder if the journalists that didn’t explore his relationship to the Digital Messiah are having second thoughts yet. BO/BO, in-the-tank media are still trying to deny their biased fawning, but the spell is wearing thin in just two months. I get such a laugh thinking back to the people swooning at the Obama road show soaring teleprompter speeches. They must feel the fool, while they read the daily stock report, and see half their wealth gone, and it may not come back.

Houston Chronicle Buries Own Layoff (In MNI Fashion)

The Houston Chronicle joins the long string of newspapers that assert their commitment to “strong watchdog journalism” while covering news of their own troubles with e.e. cummings-like simplicity.

The newspaper devotes just 208 words to news that it is laying off 12% of its staff, or nearly 200 people. That’s about one word per victim. In fact, the Chronicle doesn’t even mention a body count.

You have to read The Wall Street Journal account to find that number. Even the AP devotes more space to the story than the Chronicle.

Nobody's Offering More Than $50 Million For The Austin-American Statesman

Bids are in for Cox Communications' newspaper the Austin-American Statesman. A source tells us none of the offers exceeded $50 million.

Offers came from:
• Platinum Equity, which just bought the San Diego Union-Tribune.
• Chris Harte, who publishes the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
• Hicks Holdings, which owns the Texas Rangers.
• Jim Friedlich of Zelnick Media.

The $50 million figure is based mostly on the Stateman's real-estate footprint, our source tells us. The source is pretty sure Cox won't accept any of the offers.

"Austin's in this bizarre trap: It's so worthless you might as well hold onto it."

Totally off topic post to any managers reading this:

Nobody wants to hear your voicemail or conference calls on speakerphone. You've got a door, close it. Being a manager doesn't mean you get to be an inconsiderate a-hole.

Anyone watch Letterman last night? On his top 10 list--clues that you're working for a bad company--the only perk is free oxygen. hmmmm

Where's the press?
Once Again, Tim Geithner
-Gets It Exactly Wrong-
Real Clear Markets
by John Tamny
***
On a related note: Yet another Tim Geithener appointee withdraws their name from consideration due to future embarrassment to the Barry and Tim circus.
Doesn’t it seem ironic that the very party that taxes everyone else, can’t find ah honest Democrat that pays their taxes. Wouldn’t you think the media would be all over this?

Barry’s teleprompter writes,
“Um-Er, Um-Er, let me make this very clear, Tim the tax cheater’s integrity problems are in the past, he paid his back taxes without penalties, and he is considered paid up in all 57 states. We have vetting don’t you know? Caroline ‘You know’ Kenney is ‘you know,’ one of the best when it comes to‘you know’ scrounging out an honest lib,‘you know‘ or, at least a decent swimmer.

Don’t forget the tingle the teleprompter sent up the leg of Chris Matthews. Maybe his ‘Hardball’ show is more that a show name?
Bwhahahaha

Jay Leno Outs Obama

“True, I don’t watch other comics or late night television but I might if more jokes like this were to be told.

Jay Leno explains that the stimulus package is our euphemism for communism. We can all laugh and laugh and laugh…
until there’s a loud knock at the door.”

AMEN! 7:51, AMEN!!
I work in an open area, I don't have a freaking door but the braindead wonders around me do and don't hesitate to close the door if they think I am being too loud...

Have a door? Use it, and maybe let it hit you when you close it. Might up the brain power.

Anonymous said...

Seriously. Ditto for playing music in your office. I've seen the cube-dwelling staff reach for headphones to block out manager's music wafting down the hall. And who decided to put everyone not a manager in an open area? People with doors.

Sometimes I think these guys use sound to mark their territory, like dogs peeing on a tree.

Back to "journalists have the thinnest skin of anyone," - very true. The arrival of online reader comments to stories has really POed reporters. Now readers can blast biased reporting for all to read and editors and reporters do not like that one little iota. I think it's been eye-opening to truly read what people think about hot button issues the media has been bending with blatant bias.

Anonymous said...

its good to have people fact checking reporters online with blogs. I love it when reports get called out for poor work or lies. However as a whole i fear the day that these same blogs replace reporters because the reporters are the ones keeping our fine leaders in check not bloggers. The Majoirty of the reporters are good at what they do and give me news that these blogs can never match, only copy and distort.

-New big screen Barry-
Barry was taking so much heat about thanking himself because the teleprompter told him to, is so hilarious. So on his last TV address, they positioned a huge TV screen in the back of the room for him to read. So we may have to say the ‘Flat Screen voter’ now, or the Flat Line voter in Chicago for that matter. Do you know the list of gaffes by the HopeyChangey man has surpassed those of GWB. We will probably see that fact in the media any day now.

"Do you know the list of gaffes by the HopeyChangey man has surpassed those of GWB."

Hoo! On what planet? Dude, try turning off Fox News once in a while, or get help.

Pink slipper said, “…because the reporters are the ones keeping our fine leaders in check.”

Don’t we just love the reporter’s checks on Frank and Dodd. My that was wonderful reporting, and how about the check on Obama’s health report. A chain smoker and no request for a lung x-ray. How about greater coverage about the reasons Democrats keeping dropping out of cabinet post positions? Bloggers carry the news first, and the media comes in kicking and screaming, reluctantly reporting the news in a softball way. Get real Pink, no one believes you, get used to it, and move on down the road.

Obama making fun of challenged people and the Special Olympics went to the head of the list. What a fool you are comparing a few mispronounced words parroted by a sick media, with true embarrassment.
“Are you punch-drunk?”

Anonymous said...

A few mispronounced words? LOL! I guess no harm came from "bring it on" or "dead or alive" or conflating Saddam and 9/11 and going to war for no good reason.

Here's a gem:

"But all in all, it's been a fabulous year for Laura and me." —summing up his first year in office, three months after the 9/11attacks, Washington, D.C., Dec. 2001.

Yep, no tone-deafness there.

Sorry, nothing there compares to making jokes about the Special Olympics, informing us we have 57 states, and dozens of other gaffes on foreign policy. That is why BO is tied to a teleprompter. You must see that, well maybe not. And don’t forget, the hostile media made light of every GWB statement even when it was a simple slip from one speaking without a mechanical device. They also took words out of context, and later even had to admit it, but I can see the correction didn‘t find its way to the lost land. Now, the reporters and questions are handpicked. Man, no wonder you are going down the tubes.

About the war being a mistake, only time will tell. You probably just found out that FDR’s depression policies lengthened the depression by several years. Time will tell, and the bloggers will keep you informed of the truth. Something you have obviously been deprived of for too long.

What happens in Fresno when the business editor is let go, the standalone business section is eliminated, and nobody knows who's doing what anymore? Just try to get a directory of the remaining biz staff:

http://www.fresnobee.com/about_us/contactus/edbusiness/

The answer? This is being displayed by /pubsys/assets/about_us_components/advertise/advertise_logic.comp. Edit this file to display the correct content for your page

(Page is linked to from here: http://www.fresnobee.com/about_us/contactus/newsroom/)

Plus, people who are already long gone are still listed on other department pages.

WTF, did Drudge link here or something?

Dear political trolls - please take your idiotic teleprompter arguments elsewhere. You'd fit right at the CBS comment section.

You do not dictate the discussions here. Trying to suppress the opinions of others will cease as the purveyors of selected information bite the dust. You will not get away with that tactic on the blogs. Your days of intimidation to quiet descent, and deciding who may speak about what, are over. You can have your say, and others have the same right. That should be a basic courtesy. You are probably the weenie guy that threw a pie in the face of a woman he didn’t want ANYONE to hear.

Anonymous said...

What? “Dear political trolls”??

This blog has discussed politics from the first day. Just because you have decided to join in the discussions that interest you, does not take away the rights of longtime posters. Are you an elitist, or a bully? I think the intro to this blog says we discuss politics. Odd how liberals try to take over, and end up ruining everything they touch.

No this is why Commander Zero is tied to a teleprompter. Never forget:

In Fresno: Biz editor, Executive news editor, Photo director, one assistant metro editor, two assistant features editor, deputy sports editor.

They got rid of them without a plan on how to restructure the paper, so now they're holding meetings.
I've heard that at least one labor law attorney has been consulted to make sure they follow the law regarding positions that were eliminated.

In Lexington no one is louder and more overbearing that JULIE ACHAUER. She is so loud you can hear her all over the dept and see never shuts up talking about herself. SHUT your door, no one cares or want to hear your cursing and ranting all day.

I agree that the media is in general liberal leaning and they used there resources to sway american voters. I also believe that fox news is the worst of them all in factual reporting and in the end ill go with the lesser of the two evils.

What can i say, the majority of americans agree with me, just look who is sitting in the white house.

all this crap that these bitter republican ...bloggers? lol spat out about obama is nothing compared to the ex president sending americans off to die for all the wrong reasons. for all the faults obama has he is not a tool like bush, he is not tanking this ecomomy for war or for profit but instead saving it. And no matter how much you bitter ignorant republicans dont like it, you have to deal with it.
