This blog is mainly about the spectacular train wreck at The Sacramento Bee and its parent company, the McClatchy Company. But I also post about current events, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, politics, anything else that grabs my attention. Take a look around this blog, hope you enjoy it.

Rumor that the Kansas City Star is going to shut down some of its southern suburban properties??? Haven't heard any specifics but some of the possibilities are the Olathe News, the Belton paper, etc. Anyone else heard anything about this?
Any details on Charlotte and WHO they will eliminate? Most likely it will be from credit and accounting, since I've heard they had to train their Indian replacements. But that'd only account for a small part of that number. That building is like a "ghost town" already.

The "rumor" is that the bureaus will be relocated downtown.
Each location would be closed as far as a physical footprint, but supposedly will still exist, just downtown.
The Charlotte Observer is expecting to get cuts this week. The same 2.5%, 5% and 10% routine that we have seen elsewhere.
Expect 75 to 100 layoffs.
The HQ building is half empty. It will likely be placed officially for sale.
rumor is cuts happen in Columbia today.
Any word out of The State? What time is the meeting scheduled? Good luck to all of you there!
Found this on the Time magizine website

Anybody heard any news or rumors regarding the Idaho Statesman in Boise?
I work for the Charlotte Observer and am amazed at how top heavy the management continues to be there, even after several rounds of layoffs.
Unfreakingbelievable.
