What's up with the Miami Herald's corrections department??

Things must be bad at the Miami Herald if their corrections department is this jacked up. (Click to enlarge.)

It just means that an "article" was written with no headline and that default value was filled in by the automated process.

they just don't have their templates setup to ignore that "holder" text.

Shocking evidence of McClatchy's decline!

Actually, the garble makes more sense than two-thirds of this blog.

This kind of thing happens every day at every newspaper in the world that has an automated dump of content from the print publishing system to an online system. Most times someone catches and corrects it during regular morning processing. This is not indicative of anything except except for digging for something to post about.

That's what happens when the entire copy desk has been laid off. Look for more of the same.

It’s the Teleprompter’s fault, it read, “au, er, au, er, garble.”

The first posts making excuses for slipshod work, clearly illustrates the denial that newspapers have become little more than hackneyed wastes of newsprint.

There is no place for this sort of inattention to proper form in a professional news organization. Perhaps the operative word is ‘professional’?

Posters here say mistakes like this are common. I think, if you are fully aware of a undesirable technical outcome, and instead of double checking, it is ignored, there is no experienced editor there.

Anon @ 7:14am...you're entirely correct.

what you don't realize is that the guy that runs this blog has absolutely no life. zero! nada! zilch!

Say's so little for you and reflects exactly what they say about those in this industry. Congratulations.

Stupid liberals.

So anyone who slams Kevin is by default a liberal? WTF?

Anonymous said...

It's a safe bet, but what is for sure is that they are a piece of shit.

Liberals that come here to Bray! Hiss! Whine! Whine! about McClatchy Watch are called Griefers. Look at it this way, when you identify these poor souls, you well know, they voted for a teleprompter, they are losing their jobs, and the folks that led them down Primrose Lane are dumping them like hot shit. I say cut them some slack. I have three friends that lost their journalism jobs now, and they are all still in the bitter ‘I hate MNI’ phase of recovery. I am giving them a bit more time to shape up, or I will avoid them like everyone else does already.

I could do that. As long as it has a loop and 13 wraps.

"voted for a teleprompter"

That is freakin' hilarious, and never gets old. Your prez couldn't string 3 words together without effing one of them up, and embarrassed himself on a daily basis. Listening to him "speak" was excruciating. Now we have a president who can speak intelligently but you have to bitch because he uses a teleprompter? Jeezus.

2:55 has a man-crush on Kevin. That's sweet!

Barry’s teleprompter has it’s own web page now. The teleprompter was wet hen livid about Barry switching to a huge screen TV in the back of the room. Oops, didn’t the media tell you Barry was taking so much heat about the teleprompter, they devised another no-brain way for him to expound on his Socialist shit? Saying the USA has 57 states is a million times worse than anything GWB ever thought of saying. I do believe you are comparing a President that spoke without electronic prompting to one that cannot speak a sound sentence without one. Also, GWB had to confront a hostile dishonest press, while Barry has in-the-tank fawners working for him. Get real!
