This blog is mainly about the spectacular train wreck at The Sacramento Bee and its parent company, the McClatchy Company. But I also post about current events, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, politics, anything else that grabs my attention. Take a look around this blog, hope you enjoy it.

Is the AP even needed in the internet age? “what is the AP but the biggest news aggregator out there?” -- "The question is about the AP: Why should any newspaper in the internet age be a member of an organization that takes that paper’s original material, rewrites it and distributes it around the world without attribution or compensation?
In fact, an organization that charges the newspaper for the privilege? Inasmuch as the AP is a creation of the newspaper industry, is it not accurate to say we are complicit in the theft of our own material? Aren't newspapers the agents of their own destruction every day?
The AP now “throws down gauntlet to online news aggregators,” according to Ecommerce Times, but what is the AP but the biggest news aggregator out there?"
Listen up McClatchy, The 'Chia Obama' has been booted from some stores, buy it cheap, and add it to your trinkets inventory. Barry O with a sprouting green head, is a thing of beauty. ==== 'Chia Obama' Hail to the Ch-Ch-Ch-Chief to Honor Our 44th President - Yes, We Can! Visit ChiaObama.com to order a "Determined Chia Obama" or a "Happy Chia Obama". Pick your favorite Obama! Buy both Obamas!
Has anyone seen anything in The Star on Three Wheel Lokeman's hearing? You'd think they'd be proud that all of their subservience to the KCMO establishment finally paid off in that clearly outrageous decision.
7:24 PM I wouldn't say he is, but it is clear that you are a little thick in the noggin. Just another little drive by toad wanting to insult someone. Nothing to offer but you leftist slander.
7:24 You know the answer to that, which is a resounding yes. He seems to have left out the part where the newspapers get all this news from places they can't afford to keep reporters. That's right, he conveniently forgot the other half of how a wire service works.
I hear the Star-Telegram has hired back past employees from previous layoffs. You get rid of help then hire them back (part-time) six months later to take care of your dirty work for less pay. At least they hired Americans instead of Pakistians.
10:52 ... around these parts, they just keep mid-level management, cut their pay and force them to do the work that three or four people used to do. Sure, they have to work 70-80 hours a week, but who cares? They don't get overtime, they still cost less than the combined total of the people whose job responsibilities they assumed, and the paper can always just cut their salary even more whenever it needs to.

I always wanted to know from some ex-MNI person, how the messiah trinket sale went?
Since I have heard nothing, it must have been an epic failure, but specific numbers would be fun.
