This blog is mainly about the spectacular train wreck at The Sacramento Bee and its parent company, the McClatchy Company. But I also post about current events, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, politics, anything else that grabs my attention. Take a look around this blog, hope you enjoy it.

Kansas City Star columnist fishing for column ideas on Facebook
Jason Whitlock has been out of ideas for years. If they let him go they could probably hire 4 people to replace his salary and they might actually perform a function that they need like editing.
I have a question. Yesterday and again today when I tried to access star-telegram.com (to look at a local news story) I was taken t a screen saying I had to register. When I tried to go back to the front page it wouldn't let me go back until I registered. Is this a problem with my system or is it a new MNI policy?
Jason Whitlock never was qualified to write a column for anyone. He just came along at a time when Affirmative Credits came to being for hiring scum that couldn't get a job otherwise. That's right, the Star got tax credits for hiring unqualified people.
He's a horrible writer and injects race into everything he does. As a human being he is worth just about as much as the cheese burgers he inhales.
McClatchy's biggest bread winner now is selling your information for targeted advertising. They are just trying to leverage you into registering.
I'm sure Whitlock has an iron-clad contract. The Star couldn't afford to get rid of him if it wanted to. He's here to stay, I'm afraid. I don't care for his writing, but he was smart to negotiate his contract.
@4:16pm The fact that a Sports Columnist is asking for column ideas is a little sad. I guess you could use the excuse that he's looking for what people want to hear about, but it's not like there is a huge shortage of column ideas for sports.
As for the Star getting rid of Witlock, it won't happen. Too many feel that his controversial columns bring in readers. It's why certain columnists won't be let go until things are a LOT worse down there.
If the big contract is their reason for keeping a racist piece of crap, what is their reason for Lewisss Duiguid or Abdul Allahu Ackbar...or Mary Sanchez.
Nope, I am not buying it. They keep them because they either like racists or they are still getting tax rebates for hiring them.
There is a whole host different little programs now that pay as much as 2500 per for employers to hire people who couldn't otherwise get a job.
It varies according to depending on your state as many pocket a portion of federal funds. Some local municipalities like New Mogadishu (Chicago) have incentives on top of that which include tax credits for hiring convicted felons, so there is a double payoff right there.
It's sad, but that is what this country has come too. We're all equal now, some are just more equal than others.

Yeah ... It's sad. Some of us sound as though we just flunked 6th-grade English ... and they gave us a Net connection, anyway.

JW is a joke. He has always been an expensive joke. In fairness to the Zeeman, you can’t fire certain people. That’s just the way it is.
nice. one sad blogger follows one pathetic blogger in an effort to find something, anything wrong with mcclatchy.
the problem with asking people what they're interested in is....?
c'mon, mcclatchy watch. not enough potential doom to be gleeful about out there?

Tax credits for minority hires? How does that work?
