Getting it at The Star

Sometimes the Kansas City Star shows signs of getting the Internet and serving readers.

Get this: KC Star political reporter Steve Kraske posted an item by David Steelman from brand new blog The Missouri Record on the Star's Prime Buzz blog (click here to see it). Then, the Star posted the piece again as a "Special to the Star" on Saturday (click here to see it).

Effective use of the Internet -- and blogs -- by the Star. And congrats to The Missouri Record on a great first week.

Didn't read it...I am looking for comments to "getting it at the star", not some lengthy copy and pasted plagiarized piece of crap.

Anything more than 3 paragraphs gets skipped. Now had you posted the first 2 paragraphs and a link I would have gone off to the site to read it.

Mika Mocks Mike Allen’s Obama-Love
FinkelBlog

Is a new Mika Brzezinski emerging: a more fair-’n-balanced one? Signs point to yes.

Yesterday on Morning Joe, as noted here, Joe Scarborough described the members of the White House press corps as being “in love” with Pres. Obama to the extent that at the big dinner this past Saturday night that PBO attended, they were like “a bunch of teenage girls waiting for a Bay City Rollers concert, waiting to scream at the top of their [lungs].”

Not merely did Mika agree, she added another tasty morsel to the stew, revealing that behind the scenes, the TV production crew–big Obama fans too–scrambled to show the most flattering shots of the prez and First Lady.

This morning, Mika was back on her bias-busting beat, accusing a leading inside-the-Beltway MSMer of Obama-love.

EDITORIAL: Obama's 'Laugh In' Partisan tone hurts the president and the press

It was President Obama's idea to give Queen Elizabeth II an iPod last month at Buckingham Palace.

During the gala's keynote address, comedian Wanda Sykes asked: "And whose idea was it to give the queen an iPod?"

Clearly not wanting to be blamed for the blooper, first lady....

Michelle Obama responded by shaking her head and pointing an insistent finger at her husband....

The president siled in acknowledgment.

This gift selection was criticized widely on both sides of the pond because it lacked the usual dignity of a presidential gift.

It also suggested a pattern of superficial gestures toward our closest ally. The president bestowed a pile of DVDs on British Prime Minister Gordon Brown during his visit to Washington in March.

The bigger story is how Mr. Obama abandoned traditional presidential etiquette to take pot shots at his predecessor. He quipped that the obligation to attend the press gala was "just one more problem that I've inherited from George W. Bush."

WSJ plans micro-fees for online articles

News Corp plans to introduce micro-payments for individual articles and premium subscriptions to the Wall Street Journal's website this year in a milestone in the news industry's race to find better online business models.

"A sophisticated micropayments service" will launch this autumn, Robert Thomson, editor-in-chief of Dow Jones and managing editor of the Journal, told the Financial Times.

The move will position the Journal as the first big newspaper title to adopt a model many are studying cautiously as they seek to reduce dependence on plunging advertising revenues.

It comes as John Kerry, the Massachusetts senator leading congressional hearings on the future of journalism, told the FT it was conceivable that publishers could be given limited exemption from antitrust laws to discuss online models.

Diminishing worth is the way to describe this blog. Perhaps all you out of work hacks don't understand that subject line is meant to inspire talk of said subject. Get over yourselves already.

These plagiarized articles appear to be part of an attack on MW by the left. What is needed is a registration system that at least assigns a unique screen name to each poster so our trolls can be held accountable for their misconduct.

This is interesting though. Anyone can clutter up a blog with lengthy articles and multiple posts. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

That said, Kraske is one of the better and brighter reporters at The Star. He is a creature of the left, but has always been fair in every dealing I've ever had with him. It is not surprising that he would figure out what's coming and prepare himself in advance. Good work, Steve.

Another who seems to get it is Jim Sullinger in what is left of the Johnson County bureau. Although as understaffed as that office is, I don't suspect he has much time for surfing the web.

Hmmmm, a glitch in the blog, apparently.

Attacks by the right and racists are OK, of course.

Troll: Anyone John doesn't agree with.

TRUMP News Conference: Prejean to Keep Miss California Title

"It was an honest answer."

"Same as Barack Obama."

"Pictures were fine."

I’m glad to hear this news. Perez Hilton pseudonym dude can go pound sand. I saw him on Larry King when the news of the pictures of her came out. He was oh so outraged that she had violated her contract with the Miss USA organization by having these pictures and not disclosing.

Hard to believe that a flamboyant gay activist like him is offended by a few not too revealing pictures of a girl, or that he is really informed of the fine points of contract law.

Guess perez hilton will just have to suck it up and...never mind.
