More symptoms of neglect at McClatchy

Here are some more photos taken at a McClatchy newspaper building.

Can you guess which McClatchy building is looking dilapidated? More photos later....

That looks like the Raleigh News and Observer building.

Wow! Weeds! Holy Crap! come on Kevin, slow news day? All we need now is for John A. to chime in with some conspiratorial nonsense about this being symbolism of the decline of newspapers and uncaring management because readers need to know there are weeds growing along a wall outside one of the McClatchy newspaper buildings.....sad sad sad.

Anonymous said...

6:55: And of course the result of corruption in Kansas City that the Star refuses to expose.

Anonymous said...

Shoot, I've never worked for any newspaper where the building wasn't a dump. Big deal. It ain't an insurance agency.

Anonymous said...

Looks like shit, just like all McClatchy newspapers

Anonymous said...

So by the stated fact of the title you are saying that this is either McClatchy's headquarters, or one of their subsidiaries, i.e. McClatchy Interactive (not the case).

It cannot be a newspaper, as each paper is responsible for their own locations, and your statement of "McClatchy" says other wise.

So it is either HQ, or shoddy sensationalized journalism at best.

Notice that our entourage of trolls continues to be unable to refute any of the facts presented and so, typical of a left wing hate campaign, they try to tar the messenger instead.

We drastically need registration. These people contribute nothing and MW owes them nothing.

John -- the comments from people defending the trash ("come on, it's just weeds, slow news day at MW?") speak volumes about the problems at MNI.

I think the trolls are providing a service today.

John Altevogt said...

But then again, what haven't they defended? Libel? Check. Bias? Check. Corruption? OK with that.

That the buildings outside are as filthy as the ethics inside sort of follows.

///Notice that our entourage of trolls continues to be unable to refute any of the facts presented and so, typical of a left wing hate campaign, they try to tar the messenger instead.///

Can it also be said that it is "typical of a right wing hate canmpaign"?

Anonymous said...

"Right-wing hate campaign" = telling the truth about a Democrat.

Let's see: MW initiated the thread; the comments have discussed the topic; but the moderator calls some of the posters "trolls." Isn't a "troll" someone who doesn't stick with the topic?

John Altevogt said...

10:04 MW has repeatedly defined what is, and is not a troll. Apparently, you missed those, or are uneducable.

Anonymous said...

10:12, who appointed you assistant moderator? Why don't you let MW speak for itself?

John Altevogt said...

9:57 A hate campaign is a hate campaign. The methodology is the defining feature, not the ideology of the user.

Let me anticipate the misuse of that statement to try and rationalize the misconduct of the trolls on here. A troll is not the same as a substantive contributor and, as such, deserves no respect, or consideration beyond what one would give to a colony of termites found infesting a house.

This blog has a right to exist without being hampered by people who make no attempt to engage in a meaningful dialog.

All I am trying to point out is that MW is engaging in the same "attacks" you claim the papers do.

He is essentially no better than they are in this regard.

A better statement/title would have been "A newspapers' building reflects the content they put out", or to keep it as is "More symptoms of neglect at A McClatchy Newspaper".

Labeling this a problem with the parent corporation is as stupid as saying Bush is responsible for the Border Patrol agent that shot and killed someone in Texas, or saying that Reece & Nichols is responsible for the appearance of a house that a well known commenter has a sign in front of.

Interesting line of thinking that MNI is not responsible for the appearances of their buildings. They are certainly going to take the profits from selling them ( if Miami ever sells). It's about like saying that IBM is not responsible if their manufacturing plants are a dump because of maintenance cutbacks because they are not the corporate office.
A key part of the MNI malaise is that corporate incurred a load of debt they cannot manage and are bleeding hometown papers to pay for it. The lack of maintenance in the papers is EXACTLY the point. MNI is starving the newspaper business.

John, again you make a fool of yourself with the dribble that spews from your fingers. I have never read anything positive about ANYTHING come from your posts. I again implore you, end it all...find one of your gun totin', buddies, borrow one of his guns and blow your brains out. Then you won't have to worry about Obama or McClatchy or all the Leftists, who obviously are like sand in your ass....I'm sure you will be much happier being dead. I mean I don't think I've ever seen anyone more pathetic in my life. You are a sad human being.

I don't understand why it is so difficult for you guys to understand the problem here. How hard is it for you to agree that MW on this story is supporting the same shoddy journalism that they claim to expose?

I am not making an excuse for the crappy state of repair at a facility, because that is what it is.

The 2:58 PM post needs to be deleted. Commenting that a regular poster here should blow his brains out indicates the poster is insane. The poster should be banned forever, there is no place for that sort of sick talk on this forum, MOO.

Isn’t there some kind of flag etiquette for even anti-American companies?
--------
“****They've had dilapidated, faded, tattered flags hanging on their flagpoles for as long as I can remember.****”

@3:58

The only difference to this post and another post made by someone else along the same lines is they actually used John's name.

While I personally disagree with telling someone to kill themselves and that the world would be better off without them (wasn't this the them of a cyber-bullying mom/daughter thing recently), this is the same thing that was said previously by a "righty" to a "lefty".

While I think they both should be banned, and removed, the fact of the matter is that if the other one is allowed to stand, then this one should as well.

This of course is yet another reason to require logins.

John, I am enjoying your expertise at dismantling the posts of the obvious liberals still in denial, posting here. If they don’t like the thread, wouldn’t you think they would just move on? Hell no, they were born to whine. Keep up the good work. I am late to the discussion, but I see the pantywaists never disappoint us.

Anonymous said...

What actual good does using a fake moniker do? So the name is Bootie, Berry, or Barack, what difference does that make? No one knows who you really are?

Anonymous said...

Maybe you should blow him 4:19.

John, shut the F*%k up you fricken retard. Your lucky I'm no where near Kansas City or I would come see you and set you straight about what happens when you talk sh*t to people.

Kevin,

Go ahead and delete this post too you retard, your next!!!!!

Lots of us agree. But when John himself suggested a few days ago that a poster he disagreed with commit suicide, MW advised another poster who objected to that kind of sick talk to see his/her therapist. So MW doesn't see anything wrong with it, although MW deletes posts with cuss words (except when John uses them).

You can only make a few quarters by starving maintenance. Poorly maintained facilities are a marker for future financial failure. No wonder the MNI defenders are out in force on this post.

John Altevogt said...

Kevin, please preserve the posts at 2:58 and 5:49. If possible, 2:58 previously submitted a similar post on another thread. If you can, it would be nice to retrieve it also.

Perhaps a stickie at the top of the blog so these people can get the attention they desire.

Anyhow, please do *not* delete them.

John Altevogt said...

For the record, I have not asked anyone to commit suicide. For those of you not familiar with the English language, there is a vast difference between asking a question as to whether or not someone has considered suicide as a course of action and demanding not once, but twice (especially after the first one was deleted), that someone take that course of action.

2:58 and 5:49 are why I find it so easy to compare America's totalitarian liberalism to its predecessor in Nazi Germany. Same goon squad tactics. Same religious bigotry. Same love for the state taking over our lives. Same weak minded mentality that tries to use violence to silence dissent.

Again, these two posts need to not only be preserved, they need to be highlighted because ultimately they are demonstrating just how important it is to McClatchy to silence this blog and the growing body of evidence showing how corrupt the entire chain is.

McClatchy Watch said...

John -- the 5:49 post sounds like it was from the guy who emailed threats to me. I'll preserve it.

John Altevogt said...

Registration combined with screen names deprives some of the trolls on here from making a post and then becoming their own cheering squad.

Secondly, being able to identify a poster does hold them accountable when they violate the law.

I'm no lawyer, but I recall that a fellow sent a threatening email (similar to the one Kevin received from this one poster on here) to a spammer who kept sending him junk mail. The spammer filed charges and the fellow who did the threatening was prosecuted. As I recall it was a felony prosecution because they went across state lines to get the guy.

Given the nature of the threat in 5:49 and the email Kevin received earlier I would encourage him to contact his nearest federal prosecutor to see if they can't initiate a criminal prosecution against this punk. These days you have to take screwballs like that seriously.

If you don't the next thing you know they're either blazing away somewhere crowded, or being appointed to one of Obama's cabinet positions.

John Altevogt said...

Keep 2:58 also, please. And if you can resurrect the previous one this guy wrote, please do that also. Appreciate it.

Wow! Two posts from one nut job, and John immediately sees a conspiracy involving McClatchy! What evidence do you have, John, that McClatchy has anything to do with this nut job? And if you don't have any, why do you throw around these wild charges without any evidence that you can share with us?

You're parsing words. Very Clintonian: "It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is." Just apologize, John, and count to 10 next time before posting when you're angry.

John Altevogt said...

No, I'm understanding grammar, yet another course you seem to have slept through. You remind me of the idiots who demanded that a Washington DC official apologize for using the word "niggardly". Since they didn't understand what it meant, they thought it was racist and demanded an apology. Sorry I'm not apologizing for your ignorance.
