This blog is mainly about the spectacular train wreck at The Sacramento Bee and its parent company, the McClatchy Company. But I also post about current events, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, politics, anything else that grabs my attention. Take a look around this blog, hope you enjoy it.

Fresno Bee hiring
Wow, I'm finding more and more McClatchy papers are hiring. The Fresno Bee has announced it is hiring these positions:
This is not unexpected. It's how companies operate these days. Fire/lay off/buy out/cut back. Then when you realize you've decimated your core staff, make one or two hires. Find desperate and/or inexperienced people. Pay them next to nothing. Ta da. Newspapers are cooking their own goose.

Since the roles of the MSM, DNC and MNI are all fungible, why not hire or ask one of them for help?
Noticed that the District Representative job is part time.
Is that a Chapter 11 hedge thingy?
District Representative? Would that be the illegal alien riding the giant tricycle delivering papers that never got thrown?
Ours was just arrested for breaking into customers houses through open garage doors.
"Truth to Power", we only hire the best!
OMG, what an insult. Weekends at 3:30 AM and only $10 an hour. Classy McClatchy, very classy.....
The "editor" position is for the weekly Sierra Star, buried way up in the mountains ... sort of being Second Assistant Night Manager at Office Depot.

The editor job has been removed.
Unrelated, but kind of related: MNI stock is hitting $2.80 a share today.
Of course, in 2005, it was at $74.80.
A long way to go.
