McClatchy newspaper in South Carolina to eliminate 6 positions

The State in Columbia, South Carolina will eliminate 6 positions.

One has to wonder just how much The State can cut before there’s nothing left?

On Monday, the Columbia, SC, paper announced it was chopping six positions and requiring most of its remaining employees to take a week of unpaid leave sometime this year.

The past year has not been an easy one for the paper, which is owned by McClatchy Co. In March, it announced its second round of layoffs in less than year, cutting 11 percent of its workforce – 38 positions – and implementing wage reduction of between 2.5 percent and 10 percent for the rest of its employees.

The State has struggled with severe drops in advertising sales, according to the publication, but its circulation has been dropping as well.

Daily circulation at The State recently fell below 100,000, possibly for the first time since the 1960s, according to information released by the Audit Bureau of Circulations.

The white phone sounds its piecing ding-a-ling, cutting through the quiet Sexbee newsroom like an ominous siren. Silly Bee looks at the remaining 2½ reporters on the payroll. Her eyes close as she listens to the harsh voice saying the words she dreaded to hear,
“Get off your dead ass and get to work, what do you think this is, a graveyard?”

Hi there, this is Mel the head Bumbling Bee. Things are just fine at the SucBee, in fact, finer than fine. Gov. Muscle-bound, a REPUBLICAN, thinks we have been too liberal in our reporting, but we know who he is, don’t we? We may have endorsed ‘Tax & Spenders’ all these years, but what the hey, that’s what we do, that’s who we are. This ‘darn economy’ is going to turn around, the Messiah is giving away trillions to keep us afloat. Be patient you little worker bees, the old drones are feeding the Queen, the hive is safe.

115 is a lot of people. Why do they keep using the same old generic Melanie Sill economy argument?

Is it the old king has no clothes kind of thing, that if one paper admitted that their bias drove people away, then all newspapers would be looked upon as the total frauds that they are?

The media can’t confess their suppression of news, and their Obama in-the-tankism, that did not ask important questions of a total fraud. It is just too embarrassing for them to admit what they did in unison with the other liberal MSM. Even though most people know about the ‘sneaky bastards’ by now, they cling to their lies like a skanky club. They are so invested in the hoax that they can’t go back and tell the truth. One thing is sure, the destructive liars have to go out of business.
