This blog is mainly about the spectacular train wreck at The Sacramento Bee and its parent company, the McClatchy Company. But I also post about current events, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, politics, anything else that grabs my attention. Take a look around this blog, hope you enjoy it.

Report: readers spending less time on many newspaper sites
Newspapers are woeful at keeping users on their sites. They're too traditional and careful not to offend anybody, which turns off online users. The Internet is an opportunity to reinvent yourself and be daring and bold. Once newspapers figure out they don't have to be "family friendly" online, they'll be able to compete.
My take: News sites are too politically correct and they edit forum comments or delete them if they don't fit their idea of right and wrong. Drop the PC stuff and give us what we want - truly open forums, cusswords and naked people. Works for Rupert.
I was going to add a comment to a story in the Tacoma paper. As part of my comment I was going to express my desire to take a nap. I used the expression "time for a nappy". The auto-pc-editor rejected the word "nappy".
Unless a reader needs a fresh shot of propaganda for some reason or another, why would they read a newspaper site? Most of us cancelled our subscriptions to be free of biased reporting and outright dishonesty. Egad, what was the question again?
I can't wait until I have to pay to read liberal propaganda, it will be my pleasure. Our ACORN worker president assured me my taxes would not go up, so I have coins to spare.

My God, they do it every day in print/ editorial. Since I have no reason to use their sites, but can you expand on the above quote?
