Saturday afternoon humor

Enough of the serious issues of the week, it's time for some humor. This skit with Johnny Carson and Jack Webb is a classic. Notice Carson almost loses it at 1:55.

Like today’s press and the media, they sure don’t make em like they used too.

Today, they pretend they do, promise us they do, tell us they do, and propagandize us that they do.

Bull...they don’t and they suck!

MGM looks to cash in on vintage TV shows (Tribune Newspapers)

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. has found an economical solution for cash-strapped TV stations looking to fill their digital space: "Beach Blanket Bingo."

About eight months ago, the movie studio created a low-cost programming service for television stations called This TV. Stocked with B-level films found deep within MGM's vault, the venture serves up vintage fare like the 1960s beach classic with Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello, as well as TV shows such as "The Addams Family" and "The Patty Duke Show."

"This is a great opportunity to take advantage of the digital transition," said Jim Packer, MGM's co-president of worldwide television, referring to the June 12 event when broadcasters completed the changeover from analog broadcasts.

If they're not careful, the broadcasters could wind up just like "Jon & Kate" -- divorced from reality.

Advertisers want TV broadcasters, including ABC, CBS and NBC, to cut prices as much as 15% compared with 2008.

Disagreement is delaying the start of the so-called upfront market.

A basic lesson in business for Mr. Pruitt:

THE SIX VALUES
OF A QUALITY CULTURE

John A. Woods
from The Quality Yearbook, 1998 Edition

A business system takes inputs from various suppliers and transforms these into outputs that customers will value. When your business does this well, your customers will want your company's outputs enough to purchase them at a price high enough for you to be profitable.

The article goes on, but I think Gary fell asleep during this lesson!

OOPS, that last post at 12:33 was supposed to go elsewhere.
