Three sentences!.... Miami Herald posts tiny report about the Herald reporter accused of harassing Naval commander

Click here to see the Herald's exhaustive report.

Three sentences is an embarrassment. And no link to the complaint? The allegations against Rosenberg are pretty serious and the Herald should tell readers the full story, and link to the complaint.

Three sentences, here they are

Navy officer complains about Miami Herald reporter

A U.S. Navy public affairs officer assigned to the office of the Secretary of Defense has sent a letter of complaint to The Miami Herald about the conduct of reporter Carol Rosenberg, who covers the detention center at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba.

In a letter dated July 22 to Executive Editor Anders Gyllenhaal, Cmdr. Jeffrey D. Gordon alleges that comments made over the past year by Rosenberg toward Gordon and other military personnel were unprofessional and constitute sexual harassment.

Gyllenhaal said Gordon's complaints are being looked into and that because this was a personnel matter, it would be inappropriate to comment further.

Goebells 101 still says it's: Who, WHAT, when, where, and how?

What: "comments were unprofessional and constitute sexual harassment."

And WHAT prey tell were those comments McClatchy? CRICKETS

Rosenberg told Gordon:

"Have you ever had a red hot poker shoved up your ass?

Have you ever had a broomstick shoved up your ass?

How would you know how it feels if it never happened to you?

Admit it, you liked it."

Rosenberg:

"routinely labeled my colleagues in the Office of the Secretary of Defense and Justice Department, as well as her peers in the press, as 'bitches,' 'stupid,' 'lazy,' 'incompetent,' 'Nazis,' 'Saddam Hussein-like,' etc."

Last time I checked this does sound like a personnel issue. We should find out what is done, if anything through the grapevine, but likely this will take a while if a lawsuit is involved.

Of course this is a personnel issue, but it is more than that. This issue goes to the credibility and independence of the Miami Herald. Sweeping the allegations under the run with an HR excuse does not bode well for handling this in an open and transparent manner.

So Carol Rosenberg is what "truth to power" looks like to the "journalists" at MNI?

Anon 11:12 said We should find out what is done, if anything through the grapevine

Although I agree with you, isn’t the grapevine, at a minimum, what got the Herald into trouble?

If she set the example on how to interview military types, and others learned from her, through the grapevine, it just doesn’t bode well for the profession.

And as the first poster of the thread said, first we publish Cuban propaganda word for word, now this.

Our Marxist-in-Chief enters the fray:
Hey Bros, I have an idea, how about Cmdr. Jeffrey D. Gordon and Carol Rosenber coming to the White House and having a beer together? You know, I’ll get a keg on ice, and all the people that I have offended lately can hang one on together. Then I can get all this shit behind me, and get on with my healthcare socialism scheme, without these irritating headaches, mostly from white people.

“What a load of shit.” - Miami reporter defends Rosenberg. Liberals hate the military, who doesn’t know that?

Why do we need an angry, foul, biased, agenda driven reporter in Gitmo? To make sure "our side" wins? Is that was passes for journalism now?
Who would take these people seriously?

A harassment complaint IS a sensitive personnel matter and should be handled confidentially until a complete investigation has been conducted. That's HR 101, boys. The Herald is acting perfectly properly to keep mum at this point. Bet you wouldn't want them chatting about YOUR personnel problem to the press.

If I were the self appointed protector of the public, the government watchdog, the third rail, a public personality, you're damn right the public has a right to know, so F$%K you and your dirty underhanded leftist slander machine attempts to betray this country on a daily basis.

She's a public figure. Can you say Don Imus?

The point is that this is more than a personnel matter. Not just a personnel matter.

The bias and the conduct of the reporter is a big deal. It goes to the culture, integrity and independence of the institution itself. A responsible newspaper would report extensively on the allegation, make its standards clear to the public and to its employees and consider having an external review of the facts to preserve both the appearance and fact of independence. They should not throw their employee under the bus based on an allegation.

That's what a responsible news organization would do.

The Herald will sweep it under the run, hide behind confidentiality and do absolutely nothing unless external pressure becomes too great.

If you are a subscriber, you should no longer see the Herald as a credible source of news on important matters. It is a purveyor of agenda journalism...and not a particularly good one.
