This blog is mainly about the spectacular train wreck at The Sacramento Bee and its parent company, the McClatchy Company. But I also post about current events, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, politics, anything else that grabs my attention. Take a look around this blog, hope you enjoy it.

‘Good riddance to bad rubbish‘ - Still works for me. === About 100 AP Staffers Take Buyout By Joe Strupp

Wired editor: "Maybe the media is going to be a part-time job" Salon
"Maybe media won't be a job at all, but will instead be a hobby," says Wired editor Chris Anderson. "There is no law that says that industries have to remain at any given size." He tells Frank Hornig that he filters the news so he doesn't have to see "the stupid stuff." "By the time something gets to me it's been vetted by those I trust."
Discouraging news for photogs. Something has to be done about a $30 payment for a professional’s work, so good that it makes a magazine cover. This is not right, it just isn’t. --- Photog got $30 for Time "New Frugality" cover image Salon
Robert Lam is happy to see his photo on the cover of a national magazine, but other photographers are outraged. "How wonderful for you!" one writes on a photogs' message board. "You get to work and work and work to produce great imagery and a multi-national, multi-billion dollar company with an advertising budget in the tens of millions gets to use your image ON THE COVER for $30."
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - How much are politicians straining to convince people that the government is stimulating the economy? In Oregon, where lawmakers are spending $176 million to supplement the federal stimulus, Democrats are taking credit for a remarkable feat: creating 3,236 new jobs in the program's first three months. But those jobs lasted on average only 35 hours, or about one work week…
The Cloward/Piven Strategy of Economic Recovery (American Thinker)
The Cloward/Piven Strategy is another method employed by the radical Left to create and manage crisis. This strategy explains Rahm Emanuel's ominous statement, "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste."
The Cloward/Piven Strategy is named after Columbia University sociologists Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven.
Their goal is to overthrow capitalism by overwhelming the government bureaucracy with entitlement demands.
The created crisis provides the impetus to bring about radical political change.
Doctors told to give priority to gypsies (UK Telegraph) OBAMA DEATHCARE, ENGLISH STYLE
They should be given longer consultations, and should be seen by GPs when they walk in without an appointment, even if doctors are fully-booked.
The average length of a consultation is five or ten minutes but travellers will be given 20 minutes and allowed to bring relatives into the consulting rooms.
The guidelines have been introduced because, under race laws, gypsies and travellers are defined as minority ethnic groups and the NHS is obliged to consider their special needs and circumstances.
Yet no special treatment is promised for other groups such as those from the Asian sub-continent or Africa, the Daily Mail reported.
As U.S. recession bites, Ohio hopes fade for Obama (Reuters)
Hope and jobs are in short supply in Ohio eight months after President Barack Obama won the recession-battered state in the 2008 election with promises of a better future.
"People were looking for a savior to get us out of this mess and that's why they voted for Obama," said Jeff Fravor, 55, a retired train conductor on his way to breakfast on the outskirts of Toledo.
"I've nothing against Obama personally, but he's new to the job and 'hope' won't fix this mess."
Candidate Obama delivered his message over and over again in Ohio, a politically diverse battleground state that often decides presidential elections. Obama went back to the state last week with an approval rating below 50 percent.
A Quinnipiac University opinion poll released on July 7 showed the Democratic president's popularity in America's seventh most populous state had fallen to 49 percent from 62 per cent in May. Even worse for Obama, 48 percent said they disapproved of his handling of the U.S. economy, with 46 percent approving.
The reason for the poll drop? Rising unemployment.

Honda Quits Making Motorcycles In USA - (motocrossaction)
A motocross publication that I read online is quoting Nasdaq that Honda is closing their Marysville OH plant, which currently produces the VTX and Honda Goldwing motorcycles. Production (up to 75,000 motorcycles/year) is being sourced back to Japan.
Media barred from Palin’s post-gubernatorial debut (http://blogs.reuters.com)
Sarah Palin is expected to make a visit next week to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in California, in what would be her first public appearance outside Alaska since resigning as governor, and the sponsors said on Wednesday the event will be closed to the media.
Palin, the self-described hockey mom turned politician, is slated as “our expected guest” on Aug. 8 for a 50th anniversary gala hosted by the Simi Valley Republican Women, Federated, a nonprofit group of GOP volunteers, according to an e-mail from the group’s president Peggy Sadler. An accompanying notice states bluntly: “No press or other media allowed.”
(Time Magazine: Palin "hates on the media, never forgets the troops and is a walking middle finger to the BosNYWash elites".)
Actually, it was the Simi Valley Republican Women’s Group that imposed the “no media” restriction, not Sarah Palin.
I’m thinking the good ladies of the SVRWC don’t want the hateful media to dishonor President Regan’s Library with their presence, considering how much they trashed him when he was alive.
Organic Food Is No Healthier, Study Finds (Reuters)
LONDON (Reuters) - Organic food has no nutritional or health benefits over ordinary food, according to a major study published Wednesday.
Researchers from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine said consumers were paying higher prices for organic food because of its perceived health benefits, creating a global organic market worth an estimated $48 billion in 2007.
Dan Rather has liberal data to sell, a bit untrustworthy, but since when did that matter? == -Dan Rather wants Obama to help save the news- Aspen Daily News
Former CBS News anchor Dan Rather called on President Barack Obama to form a White House commission to help save the press Tuesday night in an impassioned speech at the Aspen Institute. (snip) Such a commission on media reform, Rather said, ought to make recommendations on saving journalism jobs and creating new business models to keep news organizations alive.

Poll: Public dissatisfaction growingwith Obama, other Democrats McClatchy, by Steve Thomma
WASHINGTON — According to a bipartisan poll released Wednesday, President Barack Obama and the Democratic Party may be putting themselves in political jeopardy with their expensive and ambitious agenda, which has yet to show benefits for the country. "There are warning signs for Democrats heading into 2010," Democratic pollster Celinda Lake said. "Despite trusting and supporting the Democratic agenda, majorities think the administration is spending too much and doing too many things."
This evening, the House passed a resolution sponsored by Rep. Neil Abercrombie (D-HI) that commemorates Hawaii’s 50th anniversary as a U.S. state by a vote of 378-0. The resolution also contains this provision: “Whereas the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, was born in Hawaii,” a measure that some GOP members may have had trouble supporting. However, many of the Republican representatives who at expressed at least subtle doubt that Obama was not born in the U.S. voted for the resolution. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), who had earlier in the day prevented the resolution from coming to a voice vote on the House floor, and Rep. Bill Posey (R-FL), who sponsored a bill requiring presidential candidates to prove natural-born citizenship, both voted for the resolution. Rep. John Campbell (R-CA), a co-sponsor of Posey’s bill who expressed doubt about Obama’s citizenship last week on MSNBC, did not vote.

Dozens arrested in Medicare fraud busts across US
MIAMI – Federal authorities arrested 32 people, including doctors, in a major Medicare fraud bust Wednesday in New York, Louisiana, Boston and Houston, targeting scams such as "arthritis kits" — expensive braces that many patients never used.
It’s the third major sweep since Attorney General Eric Holder, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced in May they were adding millions of dollars and dozens of agents to combat a problem that costs the U.S. billions each year.
Using about a dozen agents in targeted cities, including Miami, the Medicare Fraud Strike Force, has recovered $371 million in false Medicare claims and charged 145 people across the country in just two months.
Iowa Woman Selling Her TVs - Reason: 'Obama On Every Channel and Station'
So let us now turn our attention to an item in yesterday's Daily Times Herald in Carroll, Iowa entitled "Carroll woman's answer to highly visible Obama: Selling her televisions."
A 78-year-old Carroll woman says she's so tired of seeing President Barack Obama on the airwaves that she's selling her television sets - two of them.
Deloris Nissen, a retired nurses' aide and former Kmart employee who was raised on a farm near Audubon, placed a classified advertisement with The Daily Times Herald for Friday's paper.
In the $5.50 ad, Nissen tells readers she has two television sets for sale.

Obama born in Hawaii? Auntie Zeituni Onyango knows the answer. She is a shoo-in for becoming a new US citizen on welfare. A bill to close out the discussion is so typical of liberals. Thuggery raises its ugly head again. Did anyone see the Black Panthers with their big sticks around the voting area? Backdoor lies mean little to me. The State of Hawaii is suspect, they say, “No one with their knowledge edited Obama’s birth certificate when they changed over to their electronic system.” That should have been a yes or no answer, not a we’re hedging our bets answer.
In the 70s, Obama's Science Adviser Endorsed Giving Trees teh Legal ability to Sue in Court
(CNSNews.com) – Since the 1970s, some radical environmentalists have argued that trees have legal rights and should be allowed to go to court to protect those rights.
The idea has been endorsed by John P. Holdren, the man who now advises President Barack Obama on science and technology issues.
Giving “natural objects” -- like trees -- standing to sue in a court of law would have a “most salubrious” effect on the environment, Holdren wrote the 1970s.
No. 3 at Justice OK'd Black Panther reversal (Washington Times)
Associate Attorney General Thomas J. Perrelli, the No. 3 official in the Obama Justice Department, was consulted and ultimately approved a decision in May to reverse course and drop a civil complaint accusing three members of the New Black Panther Party of intimidating voters in Philadelphia during November's election, according to interviews.
The department's career lawyers in the Voting Section of the Civil Rights Division who pursued the complaint for five months had recommended that Justice seek sanctions against the party and three of its members after the government had already won a default judgment in federal court against the men.
Front-line lawyers were in the final stages of completing that work when they were unexpectedly told by their superiors in late April to seek a delay after a meeting between political appointees and career supervisors, according to federal records and interviews.

Exit Stage, Right? Washington Times by Suzanne Fields
Barack Obama was a rock star on the campaign trail, and his aura went undimmed in his first few months of office. But then he began taking too many curtain calls. The applause subsided, but he kept coming back to center stage to try harder to wow us. He forgot what every star must learn, that you've got to know when to get off that center stage.
So HopeyChangy doesn't work all that well. How were all these people taken in? Maybe a lying media didn't report the truth? That would be a new business model to explore, now wouldn't it? Rasmussen: Obama at 48% Overall Approval; -12 Presidential Approval Index (all time lows)
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows that 28% of the nation's voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -12. That’s the lowest rating yet recorded for President Obama (see trends).
Forty-nine percent (49%) now say that America’s best days have come and gone. Just 38% believe they are still to come. Thirty-four percent (34%) say the country is heading in the right direction. Seventy-five percent (75%) want the Federal Reserve to be audited.
Time Warner (TWX Quote) said second-quarter earnings fell 34% to $519 million, or 43 cents a share, from $792 million, or 66 cents a share, a year earlier.
Adjusted earnings of 45 cents topped the estimates of analysts of 37 cents a share as surveyed by Thomson Reuters.
Revenue in the quarter fell 9% to $6.8 billion. At Time Warner's content group, which is made up of the networks, filmed entertainment, publishing and corporate segments, revenue declined 6%.
-Caterpillar slated to lay off thousands of workers in the coming months-
Remember when Obama orchestrated a photo op to show us how well his plans would work for Caterpiller. Even the Cat CEO later told the uninterested press that Obama’s words were puffing, to say the least. The above number didn’t even calculate the losses to its vendors, and the surrounding businesses. Obama should be drawn-and-quartered for what he has already done to American workers. Pay those union dues folks, vote for Democrats, and watch your jobs disappear.
Amm 6:46: I do remember, and it wasn't too long ago. Dear Leader is driving the whole economy into the toilet, and giving free money to all the welfare polyps.
Re: “Organic Food Is No Healthier”, it’s a corrupt liberal media thing. *** Case in point about the corrupt media. During the poison spinach scare, the media underreported that the spinach was an organic brand. In fact they showed a picture of Dole Spinach instead. How deceitful can you get?
Wow! The bitter, lonely old haters are out in full force this morning. So glad they have a place to echo each other and thus convince themselves that their otherwise-boring lives have meaning.
7:19 AM Is the same-o old pitiful troll regurgitating the same-o lame line. I’ll tell you what, when you and the other liberal media types admit your part in electing a total sham president, and that you have seen the error of your ways, then I will feel sorry that your profession is biting the dust. There is no place for liars in a true watchdog media. I am wondering what it will take to open the liberal media’s eyes, or like you, they continue to sputter and stutter out the same tired old ‘gasp’ ditch efforts.
Odd that 7:11 AM sees only haters writing today. I see mostly sourced articles. We can’t be held responsible for if the media isn’t producing the liberal garbage you hold dear. I do note that some of the media is trying to report more fairly. It must be in an effort to stay relevant. Too little, too late! The hip cat’s real agenda is out of the bag, litter box and all. You bought him, you pick up after him.
That is so hilarious about the faux president buying elitist foreign beers. He can’t even find an American beer to serve. That ought to tell American workers how much he feels their pain. I seem to remember that most of his tax- cheating Cabinet members drove foreign cars. No doubt the American taxpayers have remedied that situation with free new American cars for all. It's the perception that counts, don't you know?
It figures. Barack Obama's own physician is against Obamacare. HuffPo reported:
The man Barack Obama consulted on medical matters for over two decades said on Tuesday that the president's vision for health care reform is bound for failure.
Dr. David Scheiner, a 70-year Chicago-based physician who treated Obama for more than 20 years, said he was disheartened by the health care legislation his former patient is championing, calling it piecemeal and ineffectual.
"I look at his program and I can't see how it's going to work," Scheiner told the Huffington Post. "He has no cost control. There would be no effective cost control in his program. The [Congressional Budget Office] said it's going be incredibly expensive ... and the thing that I really am worried about is, if it is the failure that I think it would be, then health reform will be set back a long, long time."
Admitting that he was not a political practitioner, Scheiner said he felt compelled to speak out because of his unique relationship with the president and this critical moment in the health care debate.
Unions are becoming so pathetic. They have convinced their blind followers that the company that pays their salary is the bad guys, and they are the good guys. I even heard a union member say his union had gotten him his current salary. No, the health of the company has gotten him his salary. I hope the out-of-work union employees have time to reflex on where the so-called good guys have gotten them. McClatchy is a sick company, the ship will go down, union members and all, unless salaries are taken down to rock bottom. It will take years for journalists to make good livings again, if that ever happens, with the online revolution at hand.
Ad Market Pummels MSLO, McGraw-Hill (MediaPostNews)
Consumer magazine publishers continued to take a beating in the second quarter of 2009, with Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and McGraw Hill, publisher of BusinessWeek, both reporting big declines in publishing ad revenue. Worse, executives held out little hope of a turnaround in print advertising in the second half of 2009.
Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia's total revenues fell 26%, from $77.1 million in the second quarter of 2008 to $57 million this year. This was due, in large part, to a 28% decline in publishing revenues, from $46.2 million to $33.5 million, the bulk of this in advertising.
Circulation revenues also dropped 22%. MSLO broadcasting revenues declined, albeit more modestly, with a 9% drop from $11.3 million to $10.3 million, which the company attributed to a small ratings decrease. Merchandising, the third pillar of MSLO's business, saw revenues tumble 45% from $16.2 million to $9 million, mostly due to the winding down of its deal with Kmart.
NEW YORK Cox Ohio Publishing, which operates the Dayton Daily News among other newspapers, is extending buyouts to "retirement-eligible employees," the company announced today.
The voluntary plan is for staffers who meet certain age and service requirements.
"For those employees who may already be looking at career options in the near future and who have given many years of loyal service to Cox Ohio Publishing, this may be a good opportunity," Emily Chambers, vice president of human resources for Cox Ohio Publishing and the Dayton Daily News, said in a statement.
Emmys Cut Awards from Telecast Eight of the 28 honors to be prerecorded and "time-shifted" (Variety)
Eight of the 28 honors in the Primetime Emmy Awards will be prerecorded and then time-shifted into the main broadcast this year, according to a proposal presented to the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences' board on Wednesday night.
According to sources, the categories affected include outstanding movie and miniseries; writing for dramatic series and movies/miniseries; directing for variety, music and comedy and movie/miniseries; and the supporting actor and actress awards in the longform arena.
Southern Comfort Pours Entire Media Budget Into Digital
CHICAGO (AdAge.com) -- Brown-Forman's Southern Comfort brand -- weary of jostling for notice with other spirits brands during the narrow nightly window when they are permitted to advertise on cable -- is taking its entire media buy digital, allowing it access to programs online it couldn't touch on TV.
Pew Survey: Obama's Ratings Slide Across the Board (38% economic approval)
Barack Obama’s approval ratings have suffered major declines. The president’s overall job approval number fell from 61% in mid-June to 54% currently. His approval ratings for handling the economy and the federal budget deficit have also fallen sharply, tumbling to 38% and 32%, respectively. Majorities now say they disapprove of the way the president is handling these two issues. The new poll also finds significant declines over the last few months in the percentage of Americans giving Obama high marks for dealing with health care, foreign policy and tax policy.
Three factors have likely contributed to more negative views of Obama. First, criticisms of the government’s economic policies are mounting. For the first time since Obama took office, as many say the government is on the wrong track (48%) as on the right track (46%) in handling the nation’s economic problems. In May, 53% said the government was on the right track on the economy, while 39% said it was on the wrong track.

There has never been anyone in the White House at any time that has created such an army of staffers whose sole duties are the facilitation of the First Lady's social life.
One wonders why she needs so much help, at taxpayer expense, when even Hillary, only had three; Jackie Kennedy one; Laura Bush one; and prior to Mamie Eisenhower social help came from the President's own pocket.
Note: This does not include makeup artist Ingrid Grimes-Miles, 49, and "First Hairstylist" Johnny Wright, 31, both of whom travelled aboard Air Force One to Europe .

The beer summit has it critics to be sure. Among them are American beer brewers some what ticked their products won’t be on tap. President Obama will have a low carb Bud Light, which was American born before going foreign.
Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. will drink down a Red Stripe from London-based Diageo PLC. Sgt. James Crowley said he’d prefer a Blue Moon. That brew is mostly owned by London-based SABMiller.

Once Promising, CNN’s Campbell Brown Has Finished 4th Every Month This Year (TV By The Numbers)
Remember when the addition of Campbell Brown to CNN’s prime time line up seemed like a way CNN might turn around their ratings fortunes? Sadly for CNN, she’s finished fourth behind the competition at Fox News, MSNBC and Headline News for adults 25-54 (the target demographic of cable news advertisers) every month this year.
As Dr. Phil might ask Jon Klein, President of CNN/US, “So, how’s that working out for ya?”
Senate Dems blame media for August health deadline (The Hill)
Senate Democratic leaders on Thursday blamed Capitol Hill media for setting an August deadline for health reform and Republicans for blocking the bill's progress.
Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Democratic Conference Vice Chairman Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Conference Secretary Patty Murray (D-Wash.) also acknowledged that critics will "pour it on" during the coming August recess and they plan to respond in kind.
Reid said reporters created a fictious deadline of a successful vote by the August recess, and downplayed the fact that the chamber won’t meet that mark.

In a July 21 interview published on The Root, a website Gates founded, he said, "The police report says I was engaged in loud and tumultuous behavior. That's a joke. Because I have a severe bronchial infection which I contracted in China and for which I was treated and have a doctor's report from the Peninsula hotel in Beijing. So I couldn't have yelled. I can't yell even today, I'm not fully cured."
In the tapes, Gates can clearly be heard shouting in the background.
'Stimulus' grants going to porn producers? OneNewsNow (FOR KEN)
"Stimulus" funds awarded to the National Endowment for the Arts may be being used to produce pornographic material.
The NEA was allotted $80 million out of the $787-trillion stimulus bill approved earlier this year by Congress and President Obama. Alliance Defense Fund special counsel Pat Trueman shares what he found upon close examination of the NEA's expenditures.
"The National Endowment for the Arts is using money from the stimulus bill, which was supposed to create economic activity, for the production of pornography," he states. "They've specifically given grants to companies that they know produce pornography -- primarily homosexual pornography."
New York Times Buries Bad Poll for Obama (Newsmax)
Thursday's edition of The New York Times goes out of its way to bury poll results that reflect a growing public backlash against President Obama's healthcare proposals.
Newspapers usually feature their poll results on the front page. But the newspaper's editors apparently didn't want the results of the New York Times/CBS poll to draw too much attention.
A Page One headline refers to "growing unease" about healthcare, but the story does not provide the actual figures until much later.
In fact, readers won't find the poll results until the bottom third of Page A-17.
And before readers reach the actual poll numbers, the story offers them an explanation for why the public healthcare revolt is growing: Opponents of the president's reforms, readers are told, have spent $9 million on television ads to sway public opinion. (No mention is made of advertising that favors a government healthcare plan.)
When readers finally locate the poll results, the numbers speak for themselves — and it's not good news for the president.
The New York Times didn’t bury anything, they were just being loyal. But their biased, one sided dishonesty, exemplifies what is killing the newspaper industry, with too many lesser papers are following them off the cliff.
New Poll Finds Growing Unease on Health Plan (69%)
President Obama’s ability to shape the debate on health care appears to be eroding as opponents aggressively portray his overhaul plan as a government takeover that could limit Americans’ ability to choose their doctors and course of treatment, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.
How the Poll Was Conducted
The latest New York Times/CBS News poll is based on telephone interviews conducted July 24 through July 28 with 1,050 adults throughout the United States…
Again, The Times over-sampled Democrats and so-called Independents:

That is self-explanatory to most blog readers, but if you are confused, I would think it means any poster can pass along an interesting news article. McC W posts his article topics open for comments in several threads a day, as well. Some blogs are news aggregates centered around main themes that interest the host. The trolls come here everyday with the same tired lines. They know what they will find here, they do not come to discuss, they come to disrupt. By Jove I think I’ve got it. McClatchy fires all their good employees and hires newbie geeks. The product is shitty, but everyone will rush right out and buy it for old time’s sake. Advertisers will swoon over the old age groups clinging to their newsprint. Too bad Obama has plans to kill these old people off in a few years. That has to be factored into the numbers. So let’s look at this, MNI posts a profit because they dumped their employees. They are burning the vacation benefits their employees accrued, so the books look better next quarter, and they will cut salaries once again using furloughs. WOULD EVEN McCLATCHY THINK THIS RACIST NEEDS A FURLOUGH?
Wash Times: Democratic Party Official, "Kill Crakkkas; F*** Whitey's Christmas"
Ace Washington Times reporter Kerry Picket has the scoop on a Democratic Party official whose MySpace page is a sewer of racial hatred.
Following up on fellow Times reporter Jerry Seper's report on the Obama Justice Department's dropping of a case of voter intimidation by Democratic party poll watcher and New Black Panther member Jerry Jackson, Picket reports on the vile racist language that gets Republicans run out of town on a rail, but gets Democrats elected to be party officials. In Jackson's case, that means being an elected member of the 14th Ward Democratic party committee in Philadelphia.
Here's a sample of the content on the MySpace page of Democratic party official Jerry Jackson as reported by Picket:
WOULD EVEN McCLATCHY THINK THIS RACIST NEEDS A FURLOUGH?
Nope, they would declare him a disenfranchise youth in need of guidance, counseling, and a job 5 levels above his head but in line with his life experiences as a black man. ....
Uh, Professor at Harvard maybe....no, that isn't it. How about California where the murdering criminal who invented Kwanzaa is a tenured professor! That is it!
Black cop at Gates home regrets 'Uncle Tom' label (trashes Prof Gates on Loud Dobbs!) yahoo
A black sergeant who was at the home of Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. when he was arrested says he's been maligned as an "Uncle Tom" for supporting the actions of the white arresting officer.
Cambridge Sgt. Leon Lashley gave a letter to Sgt. James Crowley to give to President Barack Obama during their so-called beer summit with Gates on Thursday night at the White House. In the letter, which was also sent to CNN, Lashley says Gates "may have caused grave and potentially irreparable harm to the struggle for racial harmony."
Lashley says he has become known as a traitor to his heritage by some because he "spoke the truth" about the arrest. Gates was charged with disorderly conduct by police investigating a burglary. The charge was later dropped.
HOMERUN IBD! (Why can't any other MSM outlet be 1/2 as truthful?)
Tactical Retreat, Not Waterloo, On ObamaCare IBD Editorials
Yesterday, Barack Obama was God. Today, he's fallen from grace, the magic gone, his health care reform dead.
If you believed the first idiocy — and half the mainstream media did — you'll believe the second. Don't believe either.
Conventional wisdom always makes straight-line projections. They are always wrong.
Yes, Obama's aura has diminished, in part because of overweening overexposure. But by year's end he will emerge with something he can call health care reform.
The Democrats in Congress will pass it because they must. Otherwise, they'll have slain their own savior in his first year in office.
But that bill will look nothing like the massive reform Obama originally intended. The beginning of the retreat was signaled by Obama's curious reference — made five times — to "health-insurance reform" in his July 22 news conference.
Reforming the health care system is dead. Cause of death? Blunt trauma administered not by Republicans, not even by Blue Dog Democrats, but by the green eyeshades at the Congressional Budget Office.

- How much are politicians straining to convince people that the government is stimulating the economy?
I don’t understand how Ohio thought more taxes would help their economy? We cannot tax ourselves into prosperity. Even the Chinese know this!

Sorry, meant third quarter.
Actually, it was the Simi Valley Republican Women’s Group that imposed the “no media” restriction, not Sarah Palin.

House passes resolution that states Obama was born in Hawaii, 378-0.

The reason: "Obama on every channel and station."

Washington Times
by Suzanne Fields
Barack Obama was a rock star on the campaign trail, and his aura went undimmed in his first few months of office. But then he began taking too many curtain calls. The applause subsided, but he kept coming back to center stage to try harder to wow us. He forgot what every star must learn, that you've got to know when to get off that center stage.
So HopeyChangy doesn't work all that well. How were all these people taken in? Maybe a lying media didn't report the truth? That would be a new business model to explore, now wouldn't it? I wonder if simple truth telling can be taught?

Rasmussen: Obama at 48% Overall Approval; -12 Presidential Approval Index (all time lows)
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows that 28% of the nation's voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-nine percent (49%) now say that America’s best days have come and gone. Just 38% believe they are still to come. Thirty-four percent (34%) say the country is heading in the right direction. Seventy-five percent (75%) want the Federal Reserve to be audited.

There is no place for liars in a true watchdog media. That is so hilarious about the faux president buying elitist foreign beers. He can’t even find an American beer to serve. That ought to tell American workers how much he feels their pain. It's the perception that counts, don't you know?
Dear Leader's Own Physician Is Against Obamacare

I nominate this person for the idiot of the month club. This post is nothing but a childish rant devoid of any real substance. People like you is why this country is in the hole it's in right now. Please so back to drinking your Hamms beer and squirrel hunts.

Wow! The bitter, lonely old haters are out in full force this morning. So glad they have a place to echo each other and thus convince themselves that their otherwise-boring lives have meaning.
Thumbs up fo this post. Very nice.
Ken? Is that you?
Once Promising, CNN’s Campbell Brown Has Finished 4th Every Month This Year (TV By The Numbers)
Remember when the addition of Campbell Brown to CNN’s prime time line up seemed like a way CNN might turn around their ratings fortunes? Sadly for CNN, she’s finished fourth behind the competition at Fox News, MSNBC and Headline News for adults 25-54 (the target demographic of cable news advertisers) every month this year.
As Dr. Phil might ask Jon Klein, President of CNN/US, “So, how’s that working out for ya?”
HELP, YOU'RE NOT BIASED ENOUGH
Gates Lied (The tapes prove he has lied all along) American Spectator
In a July 21 interview published on The Root, a website Gates founded, he said, "The police report says I was engaged in loud and tumultuous behavior. That's a joke. Because I have a severe bronchial infection which I contracted in China and for which I was treated and have a doctor's report from the Peninsula hotel in Beijing. So I couldn't have yelled. I can't yell even today, I'm not fully cured."
In the tapes, Gates can clearly be heard shouting in the background.
Now furloughs confirmed at Star-Telegram reportedly for all employees. Sales staff might be exempt? More to come.
This site is becoming just a "cut & paste" to get the numbers instead of a blog.
NY TIMES SHILLS AGAIN, LOADS POLL WITH DEMOCRATS:
Republican: 20%
Democrat: 34%
Independent: 39%
1:21 PM In that case, thanks for the hit.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled dailykos.
///Sweetheart/// Almost everyone knows that liberals hate the USA. I don’t think saying a good beer isn’t made here, is making a good statement about yourself. Stay brave my little flower, I await your next bloom.
Anon; 1:21 PM - You need to revisit the topic heading for this thread:
Thursday July 30 -- Got news or an update?"
Wackaloons are our source of hilarity in the midst of the serious problems we have to face. Is this open topic thread clearer to you now?
///Almost everyone knows that liberals hate the USA. I don’t think saying a good beer isn’t made here, is making a good statement about yourself. ///
Translation: Not only are you a traitor if you don't agree with my political opinions, but you also are a traitor if your taste in beer is different than mine.
For the time being, the shitty paper is a real moneymaker, just ask the ‘Golden Boy’. Where is Pruitt, BTW? Watching the stock market rise enough to dump the rest of his worthless stock?
///Sweetheart/// I swoon at your insightful words, but I will admit I am buying American products until this recession ebbs. Perhaps I am naive, but I see my fellow countrymen in a bleak economic situation. If I can help just one person keep their job by buying their products, I will do my part. Even kindred spirits disagree now and then. I would never call you a traitor, whatever made you think such a thing?
(Jackson's interests are:) "BLACK POWER,BLACK LOVE,BLACK UNITY,BLACK MINDS,KILLIN CRAKKKAS"
"F*** Whitey's Christmas"
A derogatory anti-cop poster titled "BEWARE OF PIG"
A photo of a cop sitting next to a black child in a toy car. Beneath the image the phrase "Racial Profiling: It Starts Early"
Let's get that NYTimes/CBS Obama poll at the top of this blog! If the NY Times is going to bury it, let's feature it!!!
That is it!
Ever notice...
Demolition...and

Black cop at Gates home regrets 'Uncle Tom' label (trashes Prof Gates on Loud Dobbs!)
yahoo
