Glen Nardi begins work Aug. 10 as the new publisher of The Sun Herald, a south Mississippi daily newspaper that won a Pulitzer Prize for Public Service in 2006 for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina.
McClatchy Co. announced Nardi's appointment on Wednesday. Nardi has been publisher of The Bellingham Herald in Washington since 2005.
Nardi will succeed Ricky Mathews, who announced last month that he is leaving The Sun Herald. Mathews started at the newspaper as an intern 27 years ago and had been publisher since 2001.
Gary Pruitt, McClatchy's chairman and chief executive officer, said in a news release that Nardi is "an unflappable executive" who will help The Sun Herald continue to focus on public-service journalism.

"an unflappable executive" read as, "Loyal Party Boss and true believer"
