Fresno Bee to charge 29 cents a week for TV supplement

The Fresno Bee is asking subscribers to pay an extra 29 cents a week if they want to continue receiving the Bee's TV supplement, "ontv."

Up til now, ontv has been included with the subscription. Bee readers who want to continue receiving ontv are asked to sign up by email or by calling the Bee.

The Kansas City Star and the Sacramento Bee started charging for their tv supplements earlier this year.

"McClatchy is still hiring..." (Probably because it gutted its papers):

Notice they don't even try to charge for their editorial section.

Starting August 30 Lexington is charging 59 cents per week - a substantial savings off the cover price of $2.99

It's Belleville, not Belleview.

Sadly the only people that will have to buy it are the older people too technologically challenged to use their on screen TV Guide. Our printed TV Guide usually has bad info at the time of press, I can't imagine anyone using it.

I was going to kill the TV product last year but chickened out after my circulation director nearly panicked.

If we anger another old person we won't have a reader left.

Pretty telling that the only place they can extort a subsidy is the schedule of your competition.
