From the Sacramento Bee corrections department

Last week the Bee reported fifty five swine flu hospitalizations in Yolo County. But it wasn't fifty five hospitalizations -- it was just six.

A story on Page B2 Friday incorrectly said there have been 55 hospitalizations in Yolo County from the swine flu virus. There have been 55 confirmed swine flu cases in Yolo County, including six hospitalizations.

..Accuracy has always taken backseat to hyping up a story at the SacBee. It really should be printed in comic book format.

It's probably not so much hype as it is the inability of most English or journalism majors to understand math.

That is why they ended up in the Feel Good About Yourself departments at college.

Hey wait a minute. I didn't end up in the Feel Good Department because I was bad at math.

I did it because I wanted to change the world and partly because I am hoping for a gig at the Daily KOS! The big time!

...Adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing ain't math, Bunky, it's arithmatic.
..But the SacBee didn't have an arithmatic problem, they had a facts problem. They didn't bother to check the facts. No arithmatic involved, just the same old, same old SacBee Bee Ess.

Arithmetic is a subset of mathematics.

You cut staff and rid yourself of top pros, you're going make amateur mistakes. The Sac Bee lost credibility with its core readers years ago. No big deal.

The Democrats hope to use the swine flu epidemic to scare up votes for their government run health care plan. What sane person would think that is a reason to let the spend-junkies into our health care system? The “sneaky bastards” will say and do anything to bring socialism to the USA. Anyone with working brain cells knows they are nothing but a bunch of liars.

The Sac Bee is down to so few pages, it is a wonder they still have a corrections department. Of course, they have to fill the useless rag with something. If they really corrected all their faulty misinformation, they would have to print an extra edition.

About four years ago there was also a shortage of flu vaccine. It is happening again this year but all of the blame the President articles are missing.

I guess the media felt Bush was responsible for the vaccine shortage, but Obama isn't.

Amazing.

You're right 10:38. The Sacramento Bee Sunday features section was only 20 pages last week and with absolutely nothing worth reading. Two weeks ago, they took two full Sunday sections and made one lousy one. A total failure. The features editor will probably get a bonus. They are major league out of touch with readership.

Nobody reads features these days anyway. Sill gutted the entire department. Business dept. too. She only wants her news department. Say, what were those Bee paid circulation figures again?

...yea, but 55 in the hospital is close!! Whatca want...accuracy. After looking at Saturday and Sunday's SACBEE, accuracy is the least of their issues. Absolutely, totally worthless paper. The Target ad insert was the most interesting section. What is the name of the elementary school 5th grade class that is producing the paper(?)? It used to be done by SACBEE interns, now it has gone lower.

Embarrassing, embarrassing and just awful. Keep it up BEE. We cheer every day we see an issue. And we don't even feel your pain.

Sill disgraced herself in NC, and was run out of town. So, for some reason she lands at the SucBee. Does McClatchy have an actual newspaper death wish going on there? McClatchy needs some sort of newspaper editor Death Panel. How else will they rid themselves of these old, outdated, unneeded, deadheads? Pull the plug, flush the toilet, whatever it takes.

They never seem to fire any top editors. Once you get the job, you're there for life unless you resign. That's why there are so many idiots running McClatchy newspapers.
