That number will go up by the week. If Obama pushes this disaster through, the Dems are done. Once we get a taste of the cost and inefficiency, it will hang around their necks for decades.

Right. Like the Dems were done after Social Security was passed in the mid 1930s, and after Medicare was passed in mid 1960s. Both were opposed by Republicans, and both are immensely popular today.

Social security was a transfer payment... a check that came to the beneficiary where there had been done. Medicare was in the beginning care for people who had no care.
Obamacare is something very different. The vast majority of Americans are going to have to give up their current health care ( which the research says they are quite happy with) for Government run healthcare. Obama and the Dems used to admit that they needed rationing of care to make socialized medicine work...How do you think that is going down?
Obama and the Democrats want to be in the business of dispensing and controlling the most personal of services.
Most of us know the Democrats are sandbagging the real cost of Obamacare. The truth will eventually come out.
I think the backlash will be horrific.

1:27 PM You need to study your history. I have heard this babble from you before. Neither were viewed, billed or concluded to be the mass nationalization of health care, although we were promised for decades and it was literally illegal to use a person's SSN as an ID.

Let me guess? 6th grade history?

Taking a look at all the gov. program failures is scary. I think the failing public school system is by far the worst.

I guess it all depends on your perspective. If I were a democrat and succeeded in creating a 70% urban core drop out rate, it would be an absolute victory. All those mindless bots that will do anything I say if I just promise them a hand out.

1:27 PM- Both programs are in deep financial trouble, if that is what you call immensely popular. Adding yet another millstone around taxpayer’s necks, does not make any sense at this time. However, I doubt the experience of community organizing would help the Obozo think that through.

I think that the final outcome whether it passes or not will be a complete reorganization of both main political parties.

The only government program that works (for the most part) is the military.

The prez. and all his court need to stop the polotricks and get back to the basic constitution and what this country stands for and quit the economic hemorrhaging.

An old saying is "too many irons in the fire". This refers to the blacksmith's trade when his apprentice would have 2 or 3 irons or pieces of work in the fire at one time. This way the smith could work on one while the others were heating up and as that piece he was working on would cool, the apprentice would take out another piece and heat up the cool one for the smith to work on. If there were too many irons in the fire, the smith had trouble working on so many items at one time and mistakes were made.

Let's just say our Dear President has too many irons in the fire.

You have an uncanny way of distilling things down to their core, which I appreciate very much

Thank you!

What about Amtrak? When was that supposed to be self-supporting?

A good read late in the open thread that should not be missed. I am copying it for this discussion.

This morning's SACBEE, and I expect other McClatchy rags, carried a front page article by Margaret Talev headlined
“Who’s behind attacks on overhaul of health care?”

Isn’t it odd that the opposition to the health care proposal is an “attack”. How clever. It would never be considered just plain “opposition” or “opponents” or “differences of opinion” or “discussions against” etc. We can count on her and the McClatchy “Wonders” to call it an “attack”. Nothing else would fit their agenda.

I certainly appreciated the "balance" to the article. It was interesting to find not a mere mention in her article that George Soros started up a group funded with $5,000,000.00 to “attack" for the bill. Was interesting I couldn't find that information in her article. Also interesting to find out some $150,000,000.00 in ads by groups like AARP, and AMA are being spent to support the bill. How nicely she got that major information in one tiny paragraph, but she needed about a half page to “uncover” those dastardly populist sounding name catchy “attack” groups. How clever.

I am certain her next article in a few days will be about all those groups and individuals who are “shilling” FOR the bill. I will await her article. I know we will get lots of nasty details regarding George Soros and how he owns the Democratic Party and this man child president. I know she will list all the organizations that Soros funds for the Democrats because she is a fair and balanced reporter, as is the same for McClatchy papers.

I won’t hold my breath.

Medicare and Social Security are both going broke - and faster than the earlier predictions. You can sustain these massive government social programs without taxing the hell out of the middle class. California's meltdown is a prime example of liberal Dems and their social programs destroying a once great state. We've been taxed more than enough. The econony cannot take less spendable income among its citizens. Do the math.

Donuts are also immensely popular but that does not necessarily mean they are good for you.

Well, perhaps you geniuses could suggest what for-profit medical insurance company would be insuring -- at any price -- people over age 65 today if Medicare hadn't been passed in the 1960s over right-wing screams about "socialized medicine."

If Dear Leader's old thug, SEIU, State has to shut down for a day, cuz dey spenz all da monee, how will his healthcare, I mean DeathCare work out?

BUDGET BLOWOUT: CHICAGO GOV'T CLOSED ON MONDAY [DRUDGE REPORT]
City Government Closed For Business On Monday

The City of Chicago will basically be closed for business on Aug. 17, a reduced-service day in which most city employees are off without pay, according to a release from the Office of Budget and Management. City Hall, public libraries, health clinics and most city offices will be closed.

Emergency service providers including police, firefighters and paramedics will be working at full strength, but most services not directly related to public safety, including street sweeping, will not be provided, the release said.

That also includes garbage pickup. Residents who receive regular collection on Mondays should expect trash to be picked up the following day, the release said. Some other customers may experience a one-day delay as collectors catch up.

ObamaKare in action.

The Emergency room will be closed monday. Come back on Tuesday instead.

Obama can do for America what he did for Chicago .. bankrupt it !

Remember this....

Cook county has the highest sales tax in the nation at 10.25%, and this is still happening.

But when McClatchy spins this, and they will, their excuse will be that people just aren’t taxed enough.

What - all is not well in the original Hopey Changey land? How could that be?! I thought that the community organizers had it all organized and stuff.

6:36... here is the difference. If you are on medicare or have a private insurance compnay and want to pay for some service that medicare or the insurance company will not cover, you may. If you are on Obama's program you will not be able to go outside the system and get that service even if you can afford to pay for it.

Doctors will not be allowed to treat cash patients outside of the guidelines that the government establishes.

And you can knock off the insults. They do not lend credibility to your argument.

And now back to the Whiteie House for this important announcement from our dear friends, the AP...Obama invokes grandmother's death in health debate.
Teleprompter:CRYING"SOB,SOB I just lost my grandmother last year...’SOB and these meanies want to defeat my precious plan to take over the world...Uh wait I mean to reform the world...UH...I mean restructure the nation...that's the health care of the nation...BOO HOO.

And to show us that they are on the political ball, they have drummed up this Q.A. column refuting Mrs. Palins claim on the death panel. Notice the carefully worded questions.

HopeyChangey said that AARP is on board with his health care reform, they deny it, so someone is lying. I think it was another backroom deal, and AARP is lying. They will swing back behind the bill when the time is right. This fight against socialism has become like another civil war. I am proud of our warriors for freedom. I am ready to enlist; I am so tired of this Halfrican already.

6:55, you didn't answer the question: If it weren't for Medicare, how would people over age 65 be getting medical insurance, even if they didn't yet have pre-existing conditions?

Anonymous said...

So what does one do without insurance? (I can't afford $1,200 COBRA payments!) I'll tell you! First you find out how much your doctor charges for an office visit...$OUCH$...Then you call around to find the 'po foks clinic...yuck. You get on the internet and find out where the pharmaceutical companies can be contacted and apply for their drug programs. If your lucky you might find a doctor who will take a discounted cash payment and give your wife free medication samples to hold you over for a few months...and hope and pray that you don't get sick or have an accident...And you especially hope that this politrickal mess known as Obama care doesn't go through because then you are really screwed. I'd rather be in the situation I am right now than have what's left of my freedom compromised.

Most of us regard ourselves and our families more highly than you. But if the situation you describe is more satisfactory to you, I guess you deserve what awaits you. Unfortunately, the rest of us will share the financial burden of treating you. Too bad you were so selfish.

AARP is lying. They are Obama drones and it will kill their membership numbers. AARP is a bottom feeder.
