White House sued for free speech violations (sfgate.com)

Two conservative organizations, a physicians' group and a social policy think tank, are suing the Obama administration for privacy and free speech violations over a recent attempt to get people to e-mail the White House about any "fishy" misinformation they hear regarding health-care reform.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in the District of Columbia, claims that the call for such information was designed to shut up opponents of President Obama's health-care reform proposal and to chill free speech.

When Out of Hope, Feign Change (CATO / Town Hall)

The Obama administration's offer to drop a Medicare-like health insurance option for Americans under age 65 is neither a surprise nor a comfort, because it does nothing to change the administration's dangerous plan for health reform.

Rather, it is a tactic designed to change the debate - one that fits nicely within the administration's broader strategy of deception.

On Sunday, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said that a new government program modeled on Medicare is "not the essential element" of reform, and that the president is open to a government-chartered "co-operative."

It was inevitable that the administration would back away from a new Medicare-like program, the demands of left-wing House Democrats notwithstanding. For weeks, Sen. Kent Conrad (D-N.D.) has been telling the world that such a program would never pass the Senate: "There are not the votes in the Senate for the 'public option," Conrad recently told Fox News Sunday. "There never have been." The only question was when the president would distance himself from the idea.

President Obama chose this moment because he is losing the debate on health reform, and he needs to change the subject. The administration no doubt hopes that the conversation will be about how the president has moderated his approach to health reform.

Bi-Polar Liberals? (American Thinker)

I have to ask myself, are the Liberal/Progressive/Democrats, or LPDs, among us, aware of how crazy they sound?

I'm sure a lot of them are kind to children and puppies, and very few are hard-core crazy but they certainly sound like there is a serious wiring problem in their heads.

For example, they talk incessantly about "choice", as in a woman's right to choose. Or "choosing a life style", which is code for appeals to the gay and lesbian community.

But even though the LPDs preach "tolerance" and "diversity" in terms of certain other "choices" they are utterly intolerant.

School choice comes to mind. As does any healthcare choice other than the so-called public option for health care insurance.

So, are they for or against the concept of individual choice?

MSM LIE OF THE DAY

Experts: Media today would demand Chappaquiddick answers (CNN)

Sen. Ted Kennedy would have had a "very, very difficult" time politically surviving the drowning death of a young woman if it happened in the era of blogs, talk radio and 24-hour news cycles, experts said. Sen. Ted Kennedy hit the airwaves to say it was "indefensible" he didn't immediately report the accident.

THE TRUTH: The press had 50 years to ask him! Democrats get a pass. This age-old homicide proves it.

Anonymous said...

The Democrat newsrooms are even worse today than they were then. CNN would blame the incident on Mary Jo, and that her death tarnished his reputation, and the MSM would have poor Mary Jo turned into a slut within 24 hours.

I can hear them now, "What was THAT girl doing out late with the married senator in the first place?"

Anonymous said...

What kind of “experts?” The MSM is so in the tank for the left that most would have never even heard the name “Chappaquiddick”, that Kennedy ever had an accident, or the name “Mary Jo Kopechne.”

Anonymous said...

Translation: Since McClatchy, NBC, ABC, CBS, the NYT and WAPO no longer hold a monopoly on what gets reported they would be unable to conceal a prominent Democrat's wrongdoing.

The only answers would come from internet and talk radio investigations into the matter.

As Teddy's biographer Adam Clymer wrote:

Edward Kennedy's "achievements as a senator have towered over his time, changing the lives of far more Americans than remember the name Mary Jo Kopechne."

You can't make an omelet without breaking chicks, right?

I don't know how many lives the senator changed – he certainly changed Mary Jo's – but you're struck less by the precise arithmetic than by the basic equation:

How many changed lives justify leaving a human being struggling for breath for up to five hours pressed up against the window in a small, shrinking air pocket in Teddy's Oldsmobile?

If the senator had managed to change the lives of even more Americans, would it have been OK to leave a couple more broads down there?

Ted Kennedy just wasn’t White House material (The Mirror UK)

Teddy lived until the ripe old age of 77. And unlike his handsome, martyred siblings, it wasn’t an assassin’s bullet that stopped him getting to the White House.

It was the American people who decided, in 1980, that they preferred a peanut farmer with a cheesy grin to the Third Brother.

Jack and Bobby died when they were still young and handsome, and potent enough to pull Marilyn Monroe.

Teddy lived into porky middle-age, and then into XXL old age, with eight decades of the good life written all over his soft, pampered, poor-little-rich-boy features.

Ted couldn’t even pull off the favourite Kennedy sport and pastime – adultery – with much aplomb.

JFK got away with seducing starlets and gangsters’ molls on the Oval Office shag pile.

But when required to drive Mary Jo Kopechne home from a night on the tiles, blundering Ted couldn’t even get that right.

Ted drove his car off a bridge at Chappaquiddick, Cape Cod. He got out. Mary Jo was left to drown.

Ted took nine hours before he got around to reporting this fatal accident to the police. With rumours of pay-offs flying, Ted got off lightly – a two-year suspended sentence for leaving the scene of the accident. But the American people never really forgave him.

Media Neglects Tale of Obama's Kennedy Insult (newsmax.com)

SNIP

It seems that in 2003 Obama, then a little-known Illinois state senator, uttered one of his infamous, off-the-cuff gaffes -- on camera. Speaking to a gathering of AFL-CIO members, Obama urged union members:

"We've got to call up Ted Kennedy and say, 'Ted, you're getting a little old now, and you've been a fighter for us before. I don't know what's happening now. Get some spine and stand up to Republicans.'"

Health-Care Secrets (WSJ)

Chris Dodd keeps his Senate bill under wraps.

President Obama has promised a "new era of transparency" in Washington, so perhaps he should talk to the Senate about getting with his program.

On July 15, six weeks ago, the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee passed an amended $1 trillion health-care bill, with acting Chairman Chris Dodd calling it a "historic achievement."

Too bad the committee won't reveal this history even to other Senators, much less to the public.

[New Mexico Governor] Richardson visits Cuba (WAPA.tv) ANOTHER CRIMINAL, COMMIE VISITS HIS CUBAN MASTER

HAVANA (AP) — The United States should implement the announced permission for Cuban-Americans to travel to Cuba, and the island should respond by eliminating exit restrictions on its citizens, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson recommended.

This was one among a list of suggestions the American devised during his visit to the island, which ended on Friday.

"There is a very good environment, the best I have seen in many years," Richardson stated in relation to a possible approach between the two countries.

Senior Citizens Abandoning Obama
(FOX NEWS)

The White House's handling of the health care debate has been nothing short of a disaster, and if you have any doubts, let's take a look at the latest Gallup Poll.

Support for President Obama among senior citizens is in a free fall. In only one week there was a 5-point drop-off from 48 percent to 43 percent. Gallup also found that for the first time since his inauguration, more seniors now disapprove of the president than approve.

I guess all those seniors attending town halls across the country are not Republican operatives after all!

CHARLIE'S MORTGAGE BARES HOME UNTRUTH (NY Post)

Rep. Charles Rangel claimed on mortgage papers that a Harlem brownstone was his principal residence -- even though he was living elsewhere at the time, The Post has learned.

When the Democrat -- who is under investigation by the House Ethics Committee -- took out the mortgage in 1990, he said the property on West 132nd Street was his "principal residence," records show.

But Rangel has been living since the 1970s in Harlem's Lenox Terrace apartment complex, where he improperly amassed four rent-stabilized properties.

State law requires that rent-regulated apartments be the tenant's residence.

Mark Steyn: Airbrushing out Mary Jo Kopechne (National Review) Home run Sir Mark Steyn

We are enjoined not to speak ill of the dead. But, when an entire nation — or, at any rate, its “mainstream” media culture — declines to speak the truth about the dead, we are certainly entitled to speak ill of such false eulogists.

In its coverage of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy’s passing, America’s TV networks are creepily reminiscent of those plays Sam Shepard used to write about some dysfunctional inbred hardscrabble Appalachian household where there’s a baby buried in the backyard but everyone agreed years ago never to mention it.

In this case, the unmentionable corpse is Mary Jo Kopechne, 1940–1969. If you have to bring up the, ah, circumstances of that year of decease, keep it general, keep it vague. As Kennedy flack Ted Sorensen put it in Time magazine:

“Both a plane crash in Massachusetts in 1964 and the ugly automobile accident on Chappaquiddick Island in 1969 almost cost him his life.”

That’s the way to do it! An “accident,” “ugly” in some unspecified way, just happened to happen — and only to him, nobody else.

Ted’s the star, and there’s no room to namecheck the bit players. What befell him was . . . a thing, a place. As Joan Vennochi wrote in the Boston Globe: “Like all figures in history — and like those in the Bible, for that matter — Kennedy came with flaws.

Moses had a temper. Peter betrayed Jesus. Kennedy had Chappaquiddick, a moment of tremendous moral collapse.”

Van Jones and His STORMtroopers Denounced America the Night After 9/11 (American Spectator)

Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement (STORM), the revolutionary group formed by self-described "communist" and "rowdy black nationalist" Van Jones, held a vigil in Oakland, California, "mourning the victims of U.S. imperialism around the world" on the night after Sept. 11, 2001....

Van Jones is now President Obama's green jobs czar. He does not appear to have distanced himself from his past communist activities and is now part of the Obama administration's push to turn Sept. 11 into a National Day of Service focused on the promotion of the radical environmentalist agenda.

Sac Bee has "promoted" another blazing lib to head its Opinion section. This guy (Stuart Leavenworth) had been on leave from the Bee and working as a chef in Oakland!
Sounds like he worked with Melanie Sill in Raleigh and he's married to a Bee copy editor! Cronyism and that tried and true job security perk at Sac Bee - be married to another Bee employee. Plus they get him cheap and don't have to hire from outside. So much for telling people this was an "important hire." In other words, more of the same fantasyland editorial crap in Sac.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the update 7:34. Sac Bee buried the story on its Web site. Funny how the Opinion page boss opening has been vacant since June, the in-house scuttlebutt said Sill was looking for a bigtime player for this important position and they end up promoting one of the Indians? Sounds like a lot of people turned it down or they cheaped out and allowed Sill to fill it with another suckup. Look for more paid subscriptions to be dropped in the near future.

Why the Democrats Should Call It ‘KennedyCare’ (Pajamas Media)

All in all, no matter how this legislation ends up in terms of content or fate, it’s a towering pile of doo-doo and it will be decided in the Senate. Why not name it for Senator Kennedy?

Either way, pass or fail, the bill symbolizes everything that Senator Kennedy represented.

It should also be noted that Senator Kennedy, like all fabulously wealthy people, had nothing to gain or lose with this legislation.

This law, should it pass, will be for the great unwashed masses subjected to government-run health care because their businesses will save money with the public option. Senators, as the Democrats voted in committee, will still get their own special plan.

Stuart is a very nice person and extremely talented writer. He's very well liked in Sacramento. Let's hope he'll be allowed to offer much more balance in Bee editorials. Why he would want this thankless position, manipulated by fringe left bosses, is beyond rational thought. We wish him well!

The boycott of Beck goes right to the White House. Van Jones, Obama’s environmental advisor is connected to ColorOfChange.org. With more than 600,000 members, ColorOfChange.org is the largest African-American online political organization in the country. The boycott of Beck was an organized attack from a black organization.
Who would think any black organization would stifle the free speech of others? What then, were their marches and protests for freedom, and equal rights really about?

If the Black Panthers are allowed to intimidate voters with a big stick, and a black advisor to the ‘Debt President’ can use his appointed position to intimidate sponsors of a TV host that exposed his communist past? One can start to wonder if racism has indeed become alive and well in the USA against white citizens.
-----
The Beck Boycott's
Unintended Consequences
Ameircan Thinker, by Ethel C. Fenig

The organized boycott of Glenn Beck and his program is proving the truth of two public relations fundamentals; "just about any publicity is good publicity" and "I don't care what you say about me, just spell my name right." It seems the boycotters, who are giving Beck loads of free publicity, carefully spelling his name correctly while also conveniently including his network and the times his controversial show airs, have helped Beck. All for free!

Anonymous said...

Did “ColorOfChange.org., the largest African-American online political organization with more than 600,000 members in the country,” find it objectionable that Beck exposed a black communist advising Obama, or that he had the audacity to expose any black, more objectionable? They must really be in a lather about Barry being exposed as a socialist day after day. That the show sponsors buckled under to a black group so quickly, shows us what is going on in the USA since Barry Soetoro (aka) Barack Obama has been elected. What a colossal mistake he is, far from being a unifier, he has caused a racial divide that has set race relations back twenty years, IMHO.

Anonymous said...

These fringe liberal boycotts don't work and are working even less today. People have found outlets for their beliefs and won't be fooled by these fools. Only the far left whacks participate, so it's a drop in the bucket. Advertisers who balk do so at their own financial risk. The conservative tide is getting higher and more influential daily!

US Dems fill inboxes with 419 scams (democrats.org co-opted)
(The Register)

Scammers pumping out emails that try to trick recipients into parting with large sums of cash are getting a helping hand from the Democratic National Committee.

According to a researcher with anti-spam company Cloudmark, 419 fraudsters have been relaying a "significant" amount of messages through the democrats.org domain name. The abuse, which dates back at least to the beginning of this month, helps evade filters that internet service providers employ to block the messages.

"Unfortunately, because they're able to relay mail through the Democratic Party server, it does affect the Democratic Party's IP reputation, as well as their domain sending reputation," Jamie Tomasello, Cloudmark's abuse operations manager, told The Register. "I was surprised."

One such message purports to come from Mrs. Amina Adan and seeks help in recovering $25m in assets belonging to her late husband, said to be the former Somalia security minister who died of an explosives attack in Central Somalia in June.

A second email carries the subject Sign up to volunteer for the Democratic Party and claims to be sent on behalf of a "a wealthy white farmer who was murdered on the land dispute in Zimbabwe." Other messages try to con recipients with a Microsoft lottery scam.

A spokesman for the Democratic Party had no comment.

Wall Street Journal, by Elizabeth Williamson

Oak Bluff, Mass. - President Barack Obama was looking for quiet family time on Martha's Vineyard this week. But the first family's vacation has fanned a long-running newspaper war here between the island's upmarket broadsheet and its scrappy, free tabloid. The Vineyard Gazette, a coffee-table-sized broadsheet, welcomed the president with a 16-page special section headlined: "From Our Island to Our President." [snip]

The tabloid Martha's Vineyard Times teed off on its competitor. In a column titled "Obama Beat: Why Democrats find Martha's Vineyard, oh, so special," the paper's managing editor, Nelson Sigelman, wrote: "The press has adopted a story line of an Island inhabited by happy, clam-raking yeomen." He singled out the broadsheet's editor by name, saying Ms. Wells "led the navel-gazing pack."

Democratic Party chairman of Scranton cited for public drunkenness (The TImes-Tribune) (Scranton, PA)

The chairman of the city Democratic Party was charged with public drunkenness after allegedly intervening in a police investigation of an assault at the Parker House bar late Wednesday.

"Do you recognize the name? Do you know who I am?" the party chairman, Art Moran, asked Patrolman Robert Hegedus, according to an affidavit filed by the officer.

Officer Hegedus, who reported smelling alcohol on Mr. Moran's breath, didn't recognize him and asked, "Should I?"

"Remember my name," Mr. Moran replied, the officer reported.

Mr. Moran, 47, a former Scranton school director, denied in an interview Friday he tried to intimidate the officer, claimed he reacted out of fear related to his political rivalry with Mayor Chris Doherty, and said he plans to challenge the citation.

"It's not a power play," Mr. Moran said of his conversation with the officer.

This boycott against Beck is outright thuggery, and I for one am sick and tired of it. Just watch the current TV commercials in use, and see 13% become 50%. Heard on Conservative radio...but was driving so I didn't get to note the names of the quotes...

Obama is the last Kennedy Bro.

Teddy wrote a bill 2 weeks before his death that would the governor of his state to appoint a new senator upon his death. This overturns his bill he wrote two years ago that bans the Gov. from appointing a new senator and calls for a 5 month wait. (These details may not be exactly accurate, but that was the gist of the story on the radio).

Another story I didn't get to write notes on,But Apparently Shovel Ready Teddy did something to two judges and their families...anyone want to chime in with the details.

Sorry for all the gaps, but I guess that is what happens after 20 years working for McCrappy.
