The simple photo above tells a different story than the story the political and media elites have been telling for the past week.
In the photo you see Sgt. James Crowley on the left. Crowley is a man who has quietly and honorably served his community of Cambridge, MA for years. I can't imagine the shock it must have been for him to hear the most powerful man in the world announce at a press conference that Crowley had "acted stupidly" during an arrest.
In this photo you can see Crowley helping Gates down the steps. Gates, of course, is the Harvard professor who screamed at Crowley and publically accused Crowley -- and his profession -- of being racists. This unscripted moment gives you a glimpse of Crowley's character.
The man on the right, heading toward the cameras to take advantage of what he called a "teachable moment," is oblivious to what is taking place behind him.
Contrast the photo above with the one below showing another unscripted moment and another man of character.

Do you guys think the State run media will show this photo ? Will it appear in MNI papers ?
Really a stretch, MW. Really a stretch.
Hmm. "The subjects follow behind the King. Or, "Protect and Serve" vs. "Be Protected and Be Served"
Maybe it was CYA as Gates might claim police brutality becuase Crowley twisted his arm.
It's obvious who the real racist is in this picture. (hint) It isn't the professor, nor is it the police officer.
But then to libs, Crowley is probably trying to push Gates down the steps and the picture proves it.
Gates is Obama’s friend, he should have known he might need an assist. Secondly, Gates had a cane. What clues does Obama need to jump in and take action?
Perhaps the setup was more about showing the two of them acting "friendly" towards each other.
Easy to concoct any type story you want here. A picture tells a thousand stories.
....Perhaps the setup was more about showing the two of them acting "friendly" towards each other...
Oh, the horror of it! Can't let anyone think it might actually be OK to sit down and calmly talk about your differences instead of hurling insults. That would completely be against the GOP playbook, wouldn't it?
Recognize yourselves, guys? Probably not.

Hurling insults?
The insults in the Gates affair were started by two people.
1. Professor Gates - screaming racism where none existed
2. Barrack Obama - accusing an honorable man of acting stupidly without any "knowledge of the facts"
What followed was the fault of our president.
You need to get over yourself. This was not about hurling insults or "sitting down and talking". The president of the United States stepped in it supporting another of his racist friends and needed to find a way out. The beer summit was just a way to wipe it all off his feet.
JUST A COP, SKIP, AND A CHUMP FROM THE WHITE HOUSE
Top photo taken with a wide angle lens, which expands space and makes the subjects appear farther apart than they are-bottom photo taken with a telephoto which compresses space and makes the situation seem more intimate than it really is.
Basic photojournalism.
Yep. That evil G. Bush only appeared to be holding the Senator's hand...it was trick photography. And no, Obama was not striding ahead... and Crowley was most definitely not helping Gates. Trick photography again.
By the way, there is not really a deficit, no journalists are being held by the Koreans and the US is not turning against health care "reform". Trick photography all.
Nasty buggers.
I bet MNI runs this photo tomorrow!
So, it is the photojournos that are the ‘sneaky bastards’ we read about. Photo tricks of the trade; you can’t even believe your eyes!
Bush holding hands with another man. Proof he is gay!
I heard the photo was altered. Originally Bush was groping the genitals of the senator.

Re: “hurling insults-That would completely be against the GOP playbook, wouldn't it?”
Are you saying the DNC could have sat down with Sarah Palin and ironed out any differences before they maligned her with lies? I would never have guessed that the DNC handbook contained such language. Please copy that statement and post it here.
The playbook is "secret". Sharing is subject to a fine. Kind of like the rich boy fraternity rituals at Harvard and Yale. Members of these fraternities/parties don't share the book because it's the same for both parties. The American public is stupid enough to fall for the lie they're different.
