Liberals tired of health care compromise (AP) SO LEAD BY EXAMPLE. CUT OFF TED KENNEDY’S CADILLAC HEALTH CARE

Frustrated liberals have a question for President Barack Obama and Democratic lawmakers: Isn't it time the other guys gave a little ground on health care?

What's the point of a bipartisan bill, they ask, if we're making all the concessions?

California: Muslim gets 70 months for plot to attack U.S. synagogues and kill Jews (OC Register)

SANTA ANA – A man was sentenced to 70 months in prison today for his role in a domestic terrorism plot to wage war on the United States by attacking Jewish synagogues and military bases.

Hammad Riaz Samana is the fourth member of Jami'yyat Ul-Islam Is-Shaheeh, or JIS, a prison-founded group that wanted to make a political statement that also had plans to attack the Israeli consulate in Los Angeles and El Al Israel Airlines at the Los Angeles International Airport.

NY Post

TO listen to the White House and its supporters in and out of the media, you'd think that opposition to "ObamaCare" is the hobgoblin of a few small minds on the right. Racists, fascists, Neanderthals, the whole "Star Wars" cantina of bogeymen and cranks stand opposed to much-needed reform.

Left out of this fairly naked effort to demonize many with the actions of a few is the simple fact that ObamaCare -- however defined -- has been tanking in the polls for weeks. President Obama's handling of health care is unpopular with a majority of Americans and a majority of self-proclaimed independents.

Focusing on the town halls has its merits, but if you actually wanted ObamaCare to pass, casting a majority of Americans as the stooges of racist goons may not be the best way to go.

Time Inc.'s Motor City Makeover

What are the publisher and Detroit's mayor cooking up? Neither will say.

Detroit Mayor Dave Bing thinks he has a jump-shot for his troubled city:

He is in talks with Time Inc. executives to work together on a year-long flood of stories about the re-invention of Detroit, says an ad industry insider. Edward Cardenas, a spokesman for Bing, won't reveal details but confirmed the discussions. "We have to explore the best ways of telling our story."

Time Inc. writers and editors will live in the house for a year, blogging and writing about rebuilding Detroit (presumably not in pajamas).

The articles will appear in Time-owned publications in business, sports, real estate and in shelter magazines like Real Simple and Coastal Living. The pitch to advertisers?

A group buy across Time titles running the reinvention coverage.

Tripping Up AARP's Dance With Pelosi and the Democrats
Washington Wink-Winks were flying fast Monday when a memo surfaced from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi describing the Democrats' plan to "partner" with AARP, SEIU and others in an August recess PR blitz for Obamacare and against Republicans who oppose it. Triple Ws are the lame excuses Washington elitists like Pelosi and AARP activists hide behind whenever they are caught red-handed. Then they deny what is obvious to everybody else while winking reassurance to their momentarily puzzled supporters that they don't really mean the denials.

Axelrod’s profits: Uh, who’s on the take from the drug lobby again?!?! (Michelle Malkin)

I’ve reported several times over the last few months on Team Obama’s hefty funding from the health care industry/drug lobby — see here and here — as well on the deep pockets behind the Astroturf HCAN/SEIU/ACORN campaign.

Culture of Corruption also hones in on the cozy cash deals involving Michelle Obama, Valerie Jarrett, Susan Sher, and David Axelrod to create faux grass-roots support for the University of Chicago Medical Center’s patient-dumping scheme.

Now, Bloomberg’s Timothy Burger brings news about Axelrod’s latest health care conflicts of interest that will come as no surprise to those who have fully informed themselves of the Chicago way.

While White House press secretary Robert Gibbs assails the motives of grass-roots activists by falsely smearing the movement as corporate-funded shills, Barack Obama’s own senior adviser and chief Astroturfer raked in millions of dollars from Big Pharma.

The Alinskyite's Big, Fat Governance Failure (American Thinker)

What happens when the thing a president knows best is a set of tactics designed to take power from the "haves"?

When the most highly prized info a president ever garnered could be summed up as nothing better than gaming an electoral system with ACORN pay-for-registration schemes?

What happens when a president is very skilled in deceptively cloaking these less-than-altruistic means in rhetorical "moral garments" and his lies finally start catching up with him, destroying his credibility?

When a president has never actually run anything successfully, not even his own paper route or a PTA meeting or a small town's city council?

What happens when power-grab tactics, taught by a rabble-rousing revolutionary, suddenly catapult a charismatic demagogue into the highest power-perch in the world?

Well, then, Barack Obama's big, fat governance failure happens.

Obama Advisor: There Very Well May Be a Death Panel (

Economist Martin Feldstein is probably coming as close as an Obama advisor can to letting the country know that a death panel may be on its way.

Feldstein was appointed by the President Obama to the President's Economic Recovery Advisory Board... Got that, "eliminate high cost, low value treatments"?

Do you think that means a 20 year old youth with a broken leg who has many tax paying years ahead of him, or Grandma, where it is decided that it just isn't worth the cost of keeping her alive through one more Christmas?...

Fat, unfit NHS staff top the sick league ( OUR DEATHCARE STAFF WILL SEE YOU NOW

More than 45,000 NHS workers call in sick each day — one and a half times the rate of absence seen in the private sector.

The first national audit of staff habits has found that high rates of obesity, smoking, absenteeism and poor mental health are having a direct impact on the quality of patient care.

Dr Steve Boorman, a leading occupational health expert, was asked by the Government to assess links between staff habits and NHS productivity.

He will present his interim review today. His findings are drawn from six months of staff surveys, workshops, data reviews and responses from trusts and experts.

[Gee, sounds like AMTRAK, the USPS, Public School teachers, DMV workers, etc. But Obamacare will be different, right?]

The Democrat's Horror: Almost ONE HUNDRED Dem seats in play in '10
(Data from Cook Partisan Voting Index)

The Democrats attained domination over the US House of Representatives not by convincing America that conservative beliefs were wrong, but by individualizing each Republican incumbent as part of a block of corruption and political tone-deafness. (Saul Alinsky)

The Cook Political Report publishes the Cook Partisan Voting Index, measuring whether districts are more Democratic or more Republican than average.

An incredible seventy-two Republican-leaning districts are currently held by Democrats. Twenty-seven more have Democratic margins of three percent or less. That's a total of ninety-nine districts which could be in play in a Republican tide.

The worst possible thing that could happen for these ninety-nine Democrats would be for the Democratic leadership to push through a health-care bill that would enrage the majority of voters.

If that happened, their particular stance on health care wouldn't matter, only their vote for Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. And that's exactly what the Democratic leadership is planning on doing.

'Death Panels' Just A Rumor? Go Ask Ezekiel (IBD Editorials)

The mainstream media are again circling the wagons to protect Barack Obama, but this time it may not work. One of those front-page editorials disguised as a news article in the New York Times begins:

"The stubborn yet false rumor that President Obama's health care proposals would create government-sponsored 'death panels' to decide which patients were worthy of living seemed to arise from nowhere in recent weeks."

Nowhere? Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel is "special adviser for health policy" for the Obama administration. That's nowhere? He is also co-author of an article on Americans' "over-utilization" of medical care in the June 18, 2008, issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association. Is that nowhere?

Obama, In Rich Irony, Can't Afford To Wage War On Nation's Wealthy
(IBD Editorials)

Barack Obama's political fate depends on a group of Americans he hasn't done much to cultivate — the rich.

Presidencies can succeed or fail on one transcendent issue. With George Bush, it was Iraq. Obama's burden lies in delivering on his ambitious policy goals without bankrupting the country.

Obama wants to spend at a time when America's fiscal prospects are dire. In the midst of the worst economic crisis since the Depression, Washington's red ink has swelled beyond anything ever seen in peacetime — $1.8 trillion this year, $1.4 trillion in 2010, $970 billion in 2011 and $658 billion in 2012, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

All told, the CBO estimates that Obama's four-year deficits will push the public debt from 40% to 70% of GDP — profligacy exceeded only in the 1940s by Presidents Roosevelt and Truman, who had a world war to win.

These numbers cast a dark shadow over Obama's re-election prospects and political legacy. Once the economy pulls out of its current crisis, he'll be judged — fairly or not — on how well he handles an out-of-control fiscal crisis.

That's where the rich come in.

Obama’s Organized Community Is Falling Apart (Canada Free Press)

It’s now official—the average American is not as stupid as Washington DC Democrats and their international leftist friends thought.

Their mystery messiah has already gone from hero to zero after only seven months in power, and Obama has now become a noose around the neck of every American Democrat, and every international fascist who “hoped” Obama could usher in Marxist “change.”

Nobody can organize a community like a good old fashioned communist thug can. It worked long enough to put a mystery man in the Oval Office, thanks to international socialists working through CPUSA - SPUSA and DSAUSA, funded by literally hundreds of leftist front-groups operating as special interest 527 organizations.

Here’s a short list of the BIGGEST leftist front groups - America Coming Together - Joint Victory Campaign 2004 - Media Fund - Service Employees International Union - American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees - - New Democrat Network - Sierra Club - EMILY’s List - AFL-CIO - League of Conservation Voters.

Who spends an obscene $1 Billion dollars to win a lousy $400,000 per year job, and why?

Obama's Ad Agencies From Campaign Signed On to Push ObamaCare; David Axelrod and Son Stand to Benefit Per$onally CULTURE OF CORRUPTION, DEMOCRAT STYLE.

Bloomberg reports:

Aug. 15 (Bloomberg) -- Two firms that received $343.3 million to handle advertising for Barack Obama’s White House run last year have profited from his top priority as president by taking on his push for health-care overhaul.
One is AKPD Message and Media, the Chicago-based firm headed by David Axelrod until he left last Dec. 31 to serve as a senior adviser to the president.

Axelrod was Obama’s top campaign strategist and is now helping sell the health-care plan. The other firm is Washington-based GMMB Campaign Group, where partner Jim Margolis was also an Obama strategist.

This year, AKPD and GMMB received $12 million in advertising business from Healthy Economy Now (HEN), a coalition that includes the Washington-based Pharmaceutical Research & Manufacturers of America, known as PhRMA, that is seeking to build support for a health-care overhaul, said the coalition’s spokesman, Jeremy Van Ess.

Fifty years of liberal policies forcing Detroit to a 60’s style “urban farming” communes to survive (The Collins Report)

When he saw the Nazis’ death camps Dwight Eisenhower was so moved by anger and embarrassment he ordered the gathering up German townspeople to force them to face what they had done.

After five decades of continuous Democrat rule Detroit is literally and figuratively a third world city. It is a dung heap every liberal in America should have his/her nose rubbed in so they can never again “blame Bush” or deny responsibility for the disgusting results of their dearest fantasies. The latest news from Detroit brings me to near tears.

Detroit an American city; can’t feed its own citizens. People are hungry in the genuine sense, not the phony liberal inflated numbers sense. Detroit doesn’t have a single major chain supermarket. People are forced to “shop” at small corner stores.

We know the awful numbers about Detroit, staggeringly high unemployment, thousands and thousands of foreclosed homes, blocks of rubble where people once lived, but incredibly it’s gotten worse!

Buck's Right may have found another phony protest doctor.
(Gateway Pundit)

I’m having trouble finding evidence that an ObamaCare supporter who spoke at Barney Frank’s town hall meeting last night, identified by the Associated Press and other media outlets as a Newton, MA doctor, actually is a doctor.

Here’s what AP had to say.

Others at Tuesday’s meeting were more supportive of reform.

Dr. Sheila Leavitt, a physician from Newton, said she hoped for changes that would support primary care physicians who aren’t paid as much as specialists. She said some of the rowdy critics at Tuesday’s meeting appeared to be using the same “talking points” as those who showed up at similar meetings around the country.

(This version CORRECTS Corrects spelling of ‘Leavitt’ sted “Levitt’ in last graf.)
The only references to Sheila Leavitt as a medical doctor I can find on Google (besides references to last night’s town hall) are self-references; where she identifies herself that way. I could find no listing for a medical office belonging to Sheila Leavitt. Physicians generally have offices where they practice medicine.

As far as I can tell, she is not listed as a licensed Physician at the Massachusetts State Medical Board web site. Several “Leavitts” are doctors in Massachusetts, but none are named “Sheila.” Just for kicks I tried the Associated Press’ original misspelling of the name, “Levitt,” and also found no “Sheila” as a licensed doctor.

Anonymous said...

Sheila Leavitt, who owns the protest car, shown here has been noticed by Margery Eagan of the Boston Herald who wrote:

You could call Sheila Leavitt a nutty, annoying, unrelenting Newton leftie who home-schools the kids and raises chickens to share eggs with neighbors, not to eat. She is, of course, a vegetarian.

I see her as one of those rare people who puts their convictions on parade, then faces uneasy consequences. Like the beefy, mad, middle-aged guy who followed her around the Esplanade yesterday, before dawn, tearing down her "Impeach Bush'' posters as fast as she put them up.

Or the trucker she said rear-ended her at a Mass Pike toll booth, sending her head into the steering wheel of her '88 Toyota Corolla with bumper stickers saying ``War is barbaric'' and ``Support our troops . . . Draft Jenna and Barbara,'' as in Bush.

How much easier, really, discretion? Or just waving the flag and sticking your popular ``Support the Troops'' yellow ribbon on the rear window.

No one's going to rear-end you for that.

Well, you should've seen Sheila Leavitt's in-your-face Toyota yesterday as this 54-year-old trained physician and mother of four in sundress and flip-flops did her ``one-person protest parade'' through the Back Bay and South End.

Kate adds: The only thing I can't find is evidence of a practice.

More... The Boston Globe reported in 2007 that Leavitt filters cooking oil in her basement to fuel her Volkswagen Beetle.

-- A Sheila Leavitt protested Condi Rice in 2006.

-- Sheila Leavitt is the founder of, an expired domain.

--Any help on the Sheila Leavitt's background is appreciated.

More... Granny adds:

Massachusetts licenses every last danged thing. If you want to fix your neighbors porch you need a $150 license to do so.

If the medical licensing board website does not list her as having a medical license, then she is NOT practicing medicine in the state of Massachusetts.

White House Organizes Obamacare Rally in Jackson, MI-- Bus in SEIU Members From 146 Miles Away
(Gateway Pundit)

Astroturf Alert--Organizing for America, which is the successor organization to Obama for America, held a pro-Obamacare rally last week in front of U.S. Rep. Mark Schauer's district office in Jackson, Michigan
The Obama Administration and their SEIU supporters bussed in protesters from as far away as Muskegon and Detroit. Detroit to Jackson is 78 miles. Muskegon to Jackson is 146 miles.

So who's paying for these busses?

Smoke & Mirrors--The SEIU members were bused in from as far away as Muskegon and Detroit.

Chris Gautz investigated this story after omitting it from his original report.

MLive reported: Several readers have criticized the Citizen Patriot's coverage of last week's health care rally outside U.S. Rep. Mark Schauer's office, where hundreds came out — both to support and oppose — President Barack Obama's reform plan.

The chief criticism was that we failed to mention that some supporters were bused in from around the state.

It is true, and it wasn't included in the original story, but not because we were trying to slant coverage. The simple truth is it was a difficult fact to nail down.

You're reading this story today because Tuesday I was able to confirm with the Service Employees International Union that it rented vans and encouraged people to carpool to the event. About 100 SEIU members attended, from as far away as Muskegon and Detroit, said Zac Altefogt, a spokesman for SEIU Healthcare Michigan.

While covering the rally last Thursday, myself and another reporter were told by several opponents of the reform plan that supporters were bused in. But we did not see the buses that night and were unable to pose the question to the supporters' organizer before our deadline.

We left it out of the Friday story because we cannot print speculation as fact.

On Friday, we followed up with Organizing for America, which put out the call for supporters to attend the event. OFA state director Aletheia Henry assured us that her group had not bused people to the rally.

We wrote a short follow-up Saturday and thought it was resolved.

Then this week, some readers e-mailed us photos of supporters standing in front of a bus from Trinity Transportation parked several blocks away near Family Video, 1111 W. Ganson St.

My colleague followed up with Henry. We told her we understood OFA hadn't chartered the buses, but we wondered if she knew who had. She refused to answer the question and then hung up the phone.

Seems like an overreaction to a news organization simply looking for a straight answer.

I give credit to SEIU for not being ashamed to let the community know they used mass transit to get their members to the rally.
Here's a reminder-- ACORN, Obama and the SEIU go way back.

Dems Cheered Blocking Social Security Reform in 2006-- Now It Could Face Default Within 2 Years (Gateway Pundit)

In 2006, Congressional Democrats wildly cheered their obstruction of Social Security reform at President Bush's State of the Union Address: That was 3 years ago.

Yesterday, U.S. Rep. Spencer Bachus predicted, “Social Security could face default within two years.” Tuscaloosa News reported, via Drudge:

“Social Security could face default within two years,” U.S. Rep. Spencer Bachus predicted here Tuesday. “The situation is much worse than people realize, especially because of the problems brought on by the recession, near depression."

The solvency of Social Security, which provides pensions for people over 65, has not played a major role in the current debate over health care in Congress and Bachus, a Vestavia Hills Republican who represents part of Tuscaloosa County, said it will not likely be addressed in any health care bill the House eventually passes, although if a Social Security bail out is needed, it will invariably impact government health care programs.
Thanks Dems.

Democrats: We Can’t Pass Health Care Because of Those Damn Republicans. PATTERICO

Obama and Congressional Democrats decide to run against a party out of power, and the New York Times is only too happy to play along:

(NY Times)Given hardening Republican opposition to Congressional health care proposals, Democrats now say they see little chance of the minority’s cooperation in approving any overhaul, and are increasingly focused on drawing support for a final plan from within their own ranks.

Top Democrats said Tuesday that their go-it-alone view was being shaped by what they saw as Republicans’ purposely strident tone against health care legislation during this month’s Congressional recess, as well as remarks by leading Republicans that current proposals were flawed beyond repair.

Rahm Emanuel, the White House chief of staff, said the heated opposition was evidence that Republicans had made a political calculation to draw a line against any health care changes, the latest in a string of major administration proposals that Republicans have opposed.

“The Republican leadership,” Mr. Emanuel said, “has made a strategic decision that defeating President Obama’s health care proposal is more important for their political goals than solving the health insurance problems that Americans face every day.”

PATTERICO: Damn Republicans.

If only the Democrats could somehow seize control of the presidency and the House, and get a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. Then maybe they could pass this popular legislation that the public so clearly favors.

Rahm = Vermin. It’s the old straw man same old same old Dem strategy. A local wingnut teabagger -- identified in another video offered by the television station that conducted this interview as one Pamela Pilger -- thinks the appropriate response to this is to scream, "Heil Hitler!" at him.

Your modern conservative, ladies and gentlemen.

Apparently the wingnut love affair with Israel goes only as far as getting Israelis killed in the race to the Rapture.

When an Israeli wants to talk about health care, it's right back to "Heil Hitler."

"Conservatives" endorse Hitler over health care. The depravity is staggering.

And if that's not enough for you, check out what this dumbass is wearing.

That's an Israel Defense Forces t-shirt, folks.

Now, why does an American wingnut wear an IDF t-shirt to a health care event? To prove wingnut bona fides, of course. But... first thing out of her mouth when she meets a real Israeli? "Heil Hitler!"

A Jew disagrees with her. The mask comes off.

‘Obama was a director of the left-wing Joyce Foundation.’
More radical involvement trickles out about the Debt President every day. Wouldn’t you think the MSM could have reported in full about these leftist fringe activities before the election? ‘The Joyce Foundation has not given up on efforts to undermine Second Amendment rights and funds several anti-gun organizations.’
More Bunk On Concealed Carry From the Violence Policy Center
Pajamas Media - Bob Owens

Before he was president — even before he was a senator — Barack Obama was active on the board of directors for several organizations. Most people know of the time Obama spent with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers on the board of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, but fewer people seem to know that Obama was also a director of the left-wing Joyce Foundation.

Didn’t we just fund the clunkers program again? We had to, or face complete economic disaster! Where’s the money going?

NY dealers pull out of clunkers program ^ |
A New York dealership group says hundreds of its members have left the Cash for Clunkers program, citing delays in getting reimbursed by the government. The president of the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association says about half its 425 members have stopped offering rebates from the program because they can no longer afford them.

Good question about where are all the anti-war protests with Obama in the White House. Where are those nutjobs? Guess they're taking a break until a Repub gets elected in four years.

Democrats will try to ram the socialist health care bill through even if it means they lose their next election. It’s the cause that counts. Don't think that couldn’t happen? We just watched the MSM cut their own throats getting Obama elected. It’s the cause that counts. They believe in socialism, and that the government will take care of the them.
Don’t worry, be happy.

Code Pink planned an anti-war demonstration on Martha’s Vineyard, but HopeyChangey invited them in for a beer and cigarette, and they got to talking, and he winked at them, and well, we can’t help but fawn over him. Gee whiz Andy, it was fun to protest Bush, but Bambi is so deer to us, like doe-eyed even. We can’t wound a deer, PETA would skin our pink hides. Let’s just take a swim instead. Are any of you people free thinkers that have solutions or do you all just sit around the campfire whinig to each other about how bad things are? Add that whining to the idiots yelling and shreiking jibberish at these town hall meetings and it's no wonder that the republican party is like an ox stuck in the mud; it's going nowhere fast.

NY Dealers Pull Out Of Cash For Clunkers Program [non payment.....]

NY Dealers Pull Out Of Cash For Clunkers Program Auto Dealerships Withdraw From Government Program, Citing Reimbursement Delays NEW YORK (CBS) ―

Hundreds of auto dealers in the New York area have withdrawn from the government's Cash for Clunkers program, citing delays in getting reimbursed by the government, a dealership group said Wednesday.

The Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association, which represents dealerships in the New York metro area, said about half its 425 members have left the program because they cannot afford to offer more rebates.

They're also worried about getting repaid.

"(The government) needs to move the system forward and they need to start paying these dealers," said Mark Schienberg, the group's president. "This is a cash-dependent business."

EXCLUSIVE: Lies Revealed — Greenpeace Leader Admits Arctic Ice Exaggeration (Big Hollywood)

The outgoing leader of Greenpeace has admitted his organization’s recent claim that the Arctic Ice will disappear by 2030 was “a mistake.” Greenpeace made the claim in a July 15 press release entitled “Urgent Action Needed As Arctic Ice Melts,” which said there will be an ice-free Arctic by 2030 because of global warming.

Under close questioning by BBC reporter Stephen Sackur on the “Hardtalk” program, Gerd Leipold, the retiring leader of Greenpeace, said the claim was wrong.

The crooked media will never get away with their crap again, what is left of them that is. The crazies will stick with them, but the folks we see at the town halls will not fall for their bullshit again. Realizing the Democrats wanted to off them was a real wakeup call. I see AARP has changed their main page. They used to rave about Obama’s deathcare plan, and now they are assuring everyone they have NOT endorsed anything, nothing I tell you, NOTHING. Seniors, buy our life insurance, being off-ed by the government is not suicide, your policy will pay your beneficiaries!

(The Albuquerque Journal)

Former Secretary of State Rebecca Vigil-Giron, Democratic Party consultant Armando Gutierrez and lobbyists Elizabeth and Joseph Carl Kupfer were indicted Wednesday on 50 counts each of conspiracy, fraud, embezzlement, money laundering over $100,000 and other charges for alleged acts occurring from 2004 through 2006.

The four, who are named in separate indictments filed Wednesday afternoon in Bernalillo County District court, also are charged with making or permitting false public vouchers, making or taking kickbacks and tampering with evidence.

Their charges relate to the office’s use of federal election monies under the Help America Vote Act.

So did the money get bilked outright, or just redirected to the likes of ACORN?

Rats Run Rampant In Michigan Park

Rats have become such a problem in Allen Park, Mich., that the city is handing out poison for free to residents, Detroit Television station WDIV reported

"I'm 80 years old and I don't like rodents, mice or anything like that," said resident Betty Litke, who picked up her bag of poison...

Handing out bags of poison to Michigan seniors is a dry run for Obama’s DeathCare plan to cut health care costs.

Give the democRATS a hand - they certainly know how to create a utopia!

No wonder their voting blocks are so loyal during elections!

But if they kill all the rats, who is going to run the city?

Karl Marx Is 'Back in Vogue,' NYT Book Reviewer Enthuses

New York Times book critic Dwight Garner on Wednesday enthused over a new biography of Friedrich Engels, cooing that Marxism is "back in vogue" and adding that the founding communist comes across as a "jovial man of outsize appetites" in Tristram Hunt’s new biography "Marx’s General."

Garner opened the review by insisting that decrying capitalism is now hip again: "Thanks to globalism’s discontents and the financial crisis that has spread across the planet, Karl Marx and his analysis of capitalism’s dark, wormy side are back in vogue."

Writing approvingly of Hunt’s argument that the man who co-wrote "The Communist Manifesto" in 1848 has "become a convenient scapegoat, too easily blamed for the state crimes of the Soviet Union and Communist Southeast Asia and China," Garner delighted in recounting the charming stories that the author reveals about Engels:

A few of this book’s piquant details: Engels was proud of his lobster salad and liked to fox hunt. He hosted regular Sunday parties for London’s left-wing intelligentsia and, as one regular put it, "no one left before 2 or 3 in the morning." On a personality quiz, three of Engels answers were: "Favorite virtue: jollity"; "Idea of happiness: Château Margaux 1848"; "Motto: take it easy."

It’s natural that marx would come back into vogue. After all, one of his disciples got elected president of the USA.

Quite naturally, people want to know what baraq is thinking. Learning about marx is a good shortcut into his useless mind.

Obama Administration: Depressed and Disabled Veterans Should Consider Foregoing Medical Care

Depression, disability, and "being a financial burden" could constitute "Lebensunwerte Leben" (Life Unworthy of Life) in U.S. Government end of life planning document.

"The Death Book for Veterans: Ex-soldiers don't need to be told they're a burden to society" by Jim Towey in today's (August 18) Wall Street Journal says,

Last year, bureaucrats at the VA's National Center for Ethics in Health Care advocated a 52-page end-of-life planning document, "Your Life, Your Choices." It was first published in 1997 and later promoted as the VA's preferred living will throughout its vast network of hospitals and nursing homes.

After the Bush White House took a look at how this document was treating complex health and moral issues, the VA suspended its use.

Unfortunately, under President Obama, the VA has now resuscitated "Your Life, Your Choices."

We downloaded this document directly from the Veterans Administration, and the content suggests that both family finances and depression--a non-terminal illness--could constitute Lebensunwerte Leben, or "life unworthy of life." Smoke is generally indicative of fire and, although HR 3200 says nothing about mandatory end of life planning, euthanasia, or anything else similar to Germany's Aktion T4 program--the euthanasia program that served as a precedent for the Holocaust--we have shown ( that there is indeed fire to go with the smoke. "Your Life, Your Choices" is simply more evidence, and it even suggests that war veterans with depression consider themselves a burden on the society that sent them to war.

The producers of the story featuring a heart wrenching photo of two polar bears stranded on an ice floe, were dishonest. They used the hoax photo to promote global warming, and it was a lie. They were subsequently forced to admit the photo was taken during a natural thaw, and it happens every year.

It also did not mention that polar bears are very good swimmers and could easily swim to safety anytime they chose. I think the photos are still shown now and then, and you can hear school children talk about that very photo. These liberals were so confident that the media would not expose them, that lying became the status quo.

Report: John Edwards Moving Rielle Hunter to N.C.; Elizabeth Edwards Packs Her Things
HollywoodGossip/Antional Enquirer

John Edwards is in the process of moving Rielle Hunter love child into his North Carolina neighborhood, where he will help raise their love child. That's today's John-Rielle gossip from the National Enqurier. Absurd as this sounds, we have to mention with every story that the Enquirer has been right every step of the way regarding Hunter so far. So they get a small sliver of leeway here. At least enough for us to reproduce this nonsense. In a stunning change of heart, the celebrity gossip tabloid claims the former presidential hopeful has embraced parenthood of baby daughter Frances.
