Links to external sites and sources are still rare. And there seems no consistent pattern to when a link appears. Case in point, Jim Morrill mentions a National Enquirer story on John Edwards, links to it. Charles Chandler mentions a Cleveland Plain-Dealer story on DTs, does not link to it.
Maybe this was just an oversight. Maybe some reporters don’t know how to tag. But it should be clear that if the Uptown paper really believed in all the “community” this and “community” that stuff it spouts on a regular basis, its blogs and news stories would be link-rich across the board.
Too many newspaper people still don't understand linking and embedding. A few months ago I blogged about the News & Observer doing a story about a dramatic video from a plane crash -- but not linking to the video or embedding it.
