Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) received a handwritten note Thursday from Joint Committee on Taxation Chief of Staff Tom Barthold confirming the penalty for failing to pay the up to $1,900 fee for not buying health insurance.Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and could face up to a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty, Barthold wrote on JCT letterhead. He signed it "Sincerely, Thomas A. Barthold."

You do realize that they aren't referring to any part of the healthcare law... They're referring to section 7203 of the US tax code.

And I love the "up to $1900"... doesn't that mean "ZERO to $1900, with $1900 being the MAXIMUM?", as in "based on ability to pay??
Are we ticked that it isn't free for everyone? Wouldn't that be... gasp... Socialism?

These people need to be forced from office.
Sen. John Ensign. Is this the same Sen. Ensign who has a a mistress and his parents paid to shut her up?
I'll tell you this: if there's a grain of truth to it then they'd better plan on building a LOT more jails.
Also, if this bit about Ensign is true then why the big deal? He's a POLITICIAN for cryin' out loud. What more would you expect from these people from EITHER party??
