Employee says the Ledger-Enquirer is being gutted of its best talent

An employee at the Ledger-Enquirer says the top talent at the newspaper is being eliminated to make up for failures elsewhere in the company.

I'm one of the staffers at the Ledger-Enquirer. It's sad. We've been consistently near the top of performers in McClatchy but they just keep asking for more blood. Even strongly performing papers like ours are being gutted of our best talent just to pay for failures elsewhere. Maybe somebody will get the message when they see who all is getting ready to walk.

But, but, but.... isn't it the cornerstone of modern liberalism to take from the high performers and give to the underachievers?

You know, let's tax the crap out of that guy that spent all those years working to get through medical school so some slack jawed, backward baseball hatted, monosyllabic idiot who spent their youth drinking beer and smoking dope can get free treatment from the same doctor.

Look, McClatchy managers are incapable of judging talent because they have none. They are the most ridiculous pack of losers still working in corporate America today. Why do you think the company is failing? It starts at the top and gets worse in the newsrooms.

Pruitt needs a bonus.... Right now is all about how much they can plunder.

Do you really think Gary and Frank give a crap. I love how everyone seems to think that their paper was among the top performers in McClatchy. It's doesn't matter. But you are right. We lost even more to make up for all the dead weight we took on with the knight ridder purchase.
I knew we were in trouble when we had to give up a great hmo so we could all be under Aetna. Suddenly people couldn't afford to go to the doctor anymore. All so MCClatchy could self insure and have Aetna administer.

Let the "great talent" walk, start an online blog and see if readers follow them. Then you'll (and they will) know just how valuable their great talent really is.

Re 12:51

Aetna is a McClatchy brainchild. KRI had United Healthcare

If you are talented, you no longer work for McClatchy. Only the desperate bottomfeeders remain. Where else are they going to work, Burger King?

The truly talented are better off outside of mcclatchy. I was a victim of a vindictive, expense cutting boss- who should have bee spending his time growing revenue not chopping talent. Since I left they have gone on a downward spiral, losing several clients I was intricate in acquiring/retaining and will soon be doing further expense cutting- great choice. I have, of course, landed on my feet in an even better opportunity- in a truly progressive sales culture. It is a shame that the papers had the talent to turn the industry in the right direction- but a few bad apples are trusted to make important decisions, one specifically I wouldn't trust to manager $20 and is responsible for over $15 mil annually.

Columbus Ledger Enquirer brought this one on themselves. It wouldn't matter who owned this paper, the arrogance of those who write for it spelled disaster long ago.
