Modesto Bee Guild voting today -- update: contract approved by 2-to-1 margin

The Modesto Bee Guild is voting today on a proposed contract that the Guild has hammered out with management.

Members of the Modesto Bee Guild Unit are scheduled to vote today (Thursday 9/17/09) on a proposed contract.

The ratification vote will be held from noon to 4 p.m. at the Teamsters Hall near the newspaper.

Details on the contract here. Seniority is a sticking point, but it looks like management only agreed to take seniority into consideration and "document" the explanation when workers with seniority are laid off.

Update: no surprise, the contract was approved by a large margin.
