Poll: huge majority of Americans believe the media is biased toward Obama

I'm not surprised by results from a new poll by Sacred Heart University.

Poll results found 83.6% saw national news media organizations as very or somewhat biased while just 14.1% viewed them as somewhat unbiased or not at all biased. Some, 2.4%, were unsure.

A large majority, 89.3%, suggested the national media played a very or somewhat strong role in helping to elect President Obama. Just 10.0% suggested the national media played little or no role. Further, 69.9% agreed the national news media are intent on promoting the Obama presidency while 26.5% disagreed. Some, 3.6% were unsure.

Over half of Americans surveyed, 56.4%, said they agreed that the news media are promoting President Obama’s healthcare reform without objective criticism. Another 39.3% disagreed and 4.3% were unsure. Further, a majority, 57.6% of those surveyed agreed that the news media appear to be coordinating efforts to diminish the record of former Alaska Governor, Sarah Palin...

Bad news for the media: once lost, trust is almost impossible to get back.

The only people who didn't know this are those who work in the mainstream media. This study also showed that Fox News is the most trusted news source - and the most distrusted.

10:19 -- some in the MSM will look at this poll and conclude people are stupid.

The mainsteam media is naive and out of touch. They are children in an adult world. Reality is now smacking them in the chops. Time to grow up and be adults.

I don't believe that they are naive at all. All you have to do is walk into a newsroom for an interview and within 5 minutes you'll know exactly what you better believe, otherwise forget the job.

There is nothing naive about screening for like minded individuals.

If you can read and hear, you knew this, right? It's so blatant and unprofessional, the media should be blushing bright red. Can you hear us mainstream media? We don't trust you!

To 10:55: And if you want to keep your job or beat, you'd better not say anything that would brand you a moderate or conservative. Newsrooms are the most intolerant environment in America.

Anon 11:06: Very sad indeed.

Where are the troll weasels that declared the fringe media was not in-the-tank for Obooba? Having voted for a teleprompter must sting like hell when all its promises have been broken, the lies are piling up, and a totally inexperienced fraud is in charge of our safety.
2010 - Vote the bums out!

Where are the troll weasels ...

They are on Mandatory Unpaid Furlough! ;-)

It's hard to play fanboy when the little lady is chasing you out of the house for being underfoot.

I agree newsrooms (especially editors) are intolerant of conservative views.

But I refuse to be muffled any longer. I've started pointing out the bias and openly expressing contrary opinions.

I am not popular with management or my fellow staff members, but I believe in free speech. That's why I became a journalist.

I wish others with my views would join me. What do you really fear? Our industry is vanishing anyway. We might as well speak out while we can.

And for you cancel-the-Bee advocates, how about offering praise when we neutral journalist do get middle-of-the-road news in print.

A few kind words go a long way when you're fighting a lonely battle from within the newsroom.

We know that this blog is 99.9 per cent biased.

7:28 -- I'm up front about my bias; McClatchy isn't.

MW that's your opinion.
