Ruh roh... "last minute ad cancellations" cause Florida newspaper to order additional furlough days

Newspaper employees across the country already reeling from mandated one week furloughs might get hit with another body blow -- employees at The Tampa Tribune have been told to expect additional furlough days off due to last-minute ad cancellations and deferrals of planned spending by advertisers.

Jim Zimmerman, a vice president with the company, told employees in a memo that some Media General locations experienced “last-minute advertiser cancellation and deferrals of planned spending,” according to BizSense.

I'm hearing ad revenue this quarter is bad, so look for newspapers to cut more spending.
