These "awards" are a joke. Like everything else they do, they're used to advance the liberal agenda by praising those who push the cause. We had one here in the metro area that was called the Johnson Countian of the Year "Award". Come to find out that former Johnson County Community College President Charles "Groper" Carlsen and former Senate President Dick Bond were the ones who picked the award "winners" Amazingly, the awards went to Bond and Carlsen's cronies including, even more amazingly, themselves. "I Groper Carlsen declare me to be the Johnson Countian of the Year."

The Johnson County Sun of course thinks the awards are a big deal since publisher Steve Rose also was one of the "winners".

Rule of thumb, if liberals are involved with the choice, it's rigged and it's bullshit.

Hey John -- Come on, now. You're savvy enough to know that all of these awards are rigged, bullshit jokes, regardless of the political stripe of the "judges." I do admire your pith and vinegar, however!

Absolutely, Dick Bond held himself out as a Republican, although I prefer to think of him as being in the Long Green Party.

I think Carlsen got his for fondling the most subordinates. Talk about sleaze Johnson County Community College has one of its main buildings a man who resigned in disgrace after allegations of sexual harassment from at least 4 women *and he's since been appointed to the arts council*. Talk about a sleazy county.

John Altevogt said...

Oops, that should be "named for a man who resigned..."

There's not enough quality features sections today to really give out awards. McClatchy gutted some of its best feature sections (Sacramento and Raleigh come to mind) and the rest are understaffed and tight on space. It's a damn shame!

Sounds a bit like a personal vendetta Altevogt. What an idiot. Talk about a joke, you are well known at the Star for your bullshit...and I'm a conservative. You give us a bad name.

Anonymous said...

The troll is back and now calling himself a conservative along with his personal attacks. Delete Please!

John Altevogt said...

No, no, it would seem that the liar Derek Donovan has honored us with his presence. Unlike his blog, let us have a hundred flowers bloom and show this Stalinist "conservative" how diverse we are.

John Altevogt said...

You still calling your readers up and swearing at them, Derek?

John Altevogt said...

Haven't posted this for awhile. Now here's an example of a real vendetta, and he still has a job at The Star.

You're making an assumption, Derek. You're the one who has a newspaper column and a daily blog and yet you have to come here to vent. Pressure of having everyone know what a farce you are getting to you? No one buying your con games anymore, Mr. Conservative? Time for another freak out and melt down?

Anonymous said...

No, John, you're the one making an assumption. Dereck isn't the only one who has your number. I'm 6:01, but I'm not anything before that. Methinks you protest too much.

-Dereck isn't the only one who has your number-

It appears these guys do also:

This guy takes over some many blogs and drives them into the ground it's unreal.

Anyone checked the stats on this place lately?

Thanks for bringing up the JW piece. That involved the media's attempts to tar me for uncovering a left-wing hate group at KU mentored by a member of the faculty. The faculty member lost his position as department chair as a result of my research and a course designed to spew religious intolerance was canceled.

When the reporter asked if I wasn't being too harsh I pointed out that I focus on individuals, not groups. She then pointed out that I had been critical of the Nazis and asked "aren't they a group?" Ya got me sweetheart, I'm not fond of Nazis (and liberals in this country who act like them).

Thanks for giving me the opportunity of reminiscing over yet another triumph of reason over the irrational bigotry of the left.

Also, who's to say who anyone is when they post completely anonymously? I suppose we can assume that the last two are posted by someone other than Derek since they didn't spell his name properly, but then again I probably shouldn't assume that Derek can spell his name correctly given that he hasn't shown any talent in any other field of endeavor he's attempted.

No, Mr. Boring, a left-wing hate group that denounced Catholics, Jews, blacks and other "third world" types and evangelical Christians. A group, and faculty adviser, that discussed assaulting people of faith and committing acts of violence against them and their property.

Also, since you don't read so swell, the administration at KU and his faculty colleagues demanded that he both publicly apologize and step down as department chair.

Sometimes Mr. Translator, your stupidity and tediousness is almost overwhelming. Thank you however for demonstrating to one and all just how stupid and narrow minded the trolls on here are when confronted with overwhelming evidence of leftist wrongsoing. Idiot.

John Altevogt said...

Oh, and canceling his class was also an indication that the university turned their back on he and his merry band of bigots. But oh well what's evidence of left-wing bigotry to another left-wing bigot?

11:15 was me. Sorry, hit the wrong button.

Hmmm ... stories about gardening, recipes, food, health, dieting, TV, movies, family activities, travel, the arts, etc., win a prize.

YEP, THE LIBERAL JOURNALISTS WITH THEIR BLATANT MARXIST AGENDAS ARE AT IT AGAIN!

Nothing says *liberal agenda* to me like a centerpiece on the five best places to get a burger or a travel story about Disney World.

Isn't it amazing that when a liberal wants credibility they claim to be a conservative.

John Altevogt said...

Bingo, that would be Derek. "you are well known at the Star for your bullshit...and I'm a conservative. You give us a bad name."

This was the give away that it was Derek. That's his argument to conservatives to a T. According to him, he's fighting the good fight for conservatives everywhere (never mind that nothing changes) and would clearly have more success if every conservative who contacted him weren't giving conservatism a bad name.

"Giving conservatism a bad name" is defined as those who fail to accept Derek's first salvo of bullshit and have the uppitiness to ask followup questions and/or catching him in one of his many lies and having the audacity to point it out to him.

Altevgot.....I am not Donovan...I remained anonymous because I don't need a psycho tracking me down. You may snap at any moment...Donovan would not waste his time responding to your hatred.

So you're saying there's more than 1 lying fraud at The Star falsely holding themselves out as a conservative and making identically idiotic statements? What else do you two do with each other when no one's looking? Never mind, the visual is already too disgusting.

That's 4th grade at best Altevogt. About what I'd expect though. Speaks volumes about you.

TD, sorry, just trying to relate to Derek on a level he can understand.

On the bright side I haven't called him up and screamed obscenities at him, something he did do to me. Perhaps you could share your message with him also.

Of course, that's apparently accepted practice for a Readers Rep at The Star.
