Checking in on the Bee's new editorial page editor

Stuart Leavenworth has been in charge of the Bee's editorial page for several weeks now. What kind of imprint has he made on the editorial pages? I took a look at the Bee yesterday, and judging by the editorials, it looks like Leavenworth is moving the Bee farther toward the goofy left.

Check out the unsigned editorial below:

The editorial suggests Dem politician Darrell Steinberg, the Senate Pro Tem leader who is "acting governor" while Schwarzenegger is in Iraq, should tweak the governor while he is out of state.
... Imagine the mischief Steinberg could cause in these final minutes and hours.

He could:

• Close down the governor's cigar tent in the Capitol courtyard that wafts smoke into neighboring offices.

•End one of the furlough days for state workers by reducing the size of the governor's staff and entourage.

• Pass a law that the governor of California must live in Sacramento. No jet commuting to Brentwood allowed.

With the state government looking at a $20 billion shortfall, and Californians facing a 12% unemployment rate and other challenges, it's nice to see the Bee fantasizing about juvenile stick-it-to-you games against Schwarzenegger.

Like MSDNC. I give them credit for sticking to their Marxist playbook to the very end

Sac Bee's news boss Melanie Sill admits blatant bias in editorial today:

"There's no dispute that The Bee has a liberal editorial page on most issues, though not all matters, and has mostly endorsed Democrats.

We won't change our editorial philosophy to placate critics."

The Sac Bee is to the left of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. Its circulation is down nearly 100,00, its website is underperforming compared to other markets and its stories are constantly under attack as incredibly biased from what's left of its readership. Does that sound like positive change to you? Don't expect change on its editorial pages. Bee management doesn't get it.

they're in love with Steinberg and the incompetent Doris Matsui. it's sad to see the bee refuse to embrace the times and issues of mainstream America. they prefer the fringe element. i've stopped reading their editorials and recently stopped my subscription in disgust. many have done the same thing.

The Sac Bee seems more like an anarchist than a liberal as they cheer while the life of the republic drains away.

Ideas have consequences. Poor libs don't ever seem to figure that out. Melanie has given notice that they will fly the liberal pirate flag all the way down the toilet.
Good job Melanie.
She was the one of the leading facilitators of the Duke Rape Hoax. She learned nothing.

She must get her marching orders from Pruitt or the board, a bunch of ancients with limited paths to reality. Can't believe a managing editor could be that shortsighted. The op/ed pages are so predictible they're virtually unreadable.

People, they're incapable of shifting gears, which is why the entire company is screeching to a halt. The opinion page is basically rehashed NY Times and Washington Post east coast liberal columnists. It's always been that way and will remain that way until they expire from old age and old ideas.

Palin pulled the highest ratings in the past two years for Obama-loving Oprah. Even Obama's guest spot on Oprah couldn't beat Palin's viewership! How about a Bee editorial on that political nugget?
