Long-time N&O editorial cartoonist to retire

Dwane Powell, editorial cartoonist at the News & Observer, is retiring after several decades at the N&O. Powell, who turns 65 this week, drew more than 8,000 cartoons in his career. Click here for the story.

As with Dwayne, or the twits that tweeted their McClatchy exit (Hat tip for using modern technology), it is a bit of a changing of the guard, where the old guard liberals, knowing that they just can’t flim-flam the public like they used to anymore, make their ungracious and untimely way to the exits.

There's more McClatchy cartoonists who have allowed themselves to become mean-spirited in their anti-conservative views rather than humorous. That type of misguided path will lead to layoffs and buyouts long before retirement age.
