Survey: Americans are willing to pay $3 a month for online news

Click here for the story. This isn't good news for revenue-starved newspapers. Three dollars a month is squat -- a monthly subscription costs what, $15?

I'm willing to pay much more than that....for the Wall Street Journal. For the rest, why would I pay anything at all for leftist propaganda?

$3.00 might be enough to pay many of the salaries. If you take away the material costs of the paper, presses, delivery and associated labor costs, $3.00 is a respectable number.

The real problem is what Anon 6:52 points out. How many people not now subscribing would want to subscribe no matter how low the cost?

And the transition from having a print edition to having none would be difficult to navigate.

The only reason many people sign on to The Star's web site is to insult it. I don't think they'd be willing to pay $3.00 to read something they detest.
