Last February, McClatchy reporter Tom Lasseter wrote an article for McClatchy News entitled, "Soldiers in Iraq view troop surge as a lost cause." The article is still accessible on McClatchy's web site. The link is here. Lasseter found four soldiers who gave negative views on the upcoming surge. Several paragraphs down, Lasseter quotes some officers who were optimistic but the article is decidedly negative on the chances of the surge. That was February, four months before the surge reached full strength.
I haven't seen McClatchy recently interview troops to ask them if they think the surge is working. Can you say, "credibility problem"?
