Maybe McClatchy would cover the atrocities if they were committed by Marines

As Al Qaeda in Iraq becomes more desperate, they are burning homes, and slaughtering man and beast, according to Iraq The Model. Last month in Diyala province, Al Qaeda killed 14 civilians and burned 12 shops to the ground. Elsewhere in Diyala province, Al Qaeda in Iraq dug up the bodies of deceased Sunnis, mutilated them, then displayed them on vehichles as they drove through town, according to a militant Islamic group now opposed to Al Qaeda. One recently-apprehended Al Qaeda thug admitted to participating in a "rape ring" in Samarra.

McClatchy spent alot of effort in 2006 and 2007 writing about the "murder" and "cover up" at Haditha, when Marines were accused of murdering 24 Iraqi civilians. The Marines were eventually cleared.

Makes you wonder what it takes for McClatchy to cover atrocities commited by Al Qaeda.
