More hopeful signs in Iraq

Across Iraq, there are hopeful signs that normal life is starting to return. Earlier this week, the Iraqi government re-opened a busy roadway in Baqubah. The roadway, which links northern and southern Baqubah, was re-opened for use by civilian vehicles. It had been closed due to numerous attacks against civilians, Iraqi Security Forces and Coalition Forces in the area, including improvised explosive devices and small-arms fire.

The photo above (Yahoo News) shows an Iraqi family returning to their home in Beijia village in Arab Jabour, south of Baghdad, Iraq on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008. Families are beginning to return to Beijia, a former al-Qaida stronghold, after U.S. troops moved in to secure the area and work with concerned local citizens. And more good news from AJ Strata: Iraqis are becoming convinced that the coalition is destroying Al Qaeda.
