There is enough revolting material in this article to turn your stomach. Cindy Sheehan gave an interview to Al Jazeera in Egypt. True to form, Sheehan bashed President Bush and Nancy Pelosi, but what I found most disgusting is the praise she reserved for the Muslim Brotherhood. From the interview:
If we [America] really want to promote democracy in this region then we cannot silence the voices of the Muslim Brotherhood because they're the moderate voice here and they are the ones who are actually working for democracy.Uh, no. The Muslim Brotherhood is not a pro-democracy group, not on your life. The Looming Tower documents the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and the Brotherhood's connection with terrorism and Al Qaeda. In fact, two of the most influential leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood were brothers, Sayyid Qutb and Mohammed Qutb, both of whom had a major influence on Ayman Zawahiri and Osama Bin Laden.
Back to Cindy Sheehan and her comments about Nancy Pelosi. Here is what Sheehan said about Pelosi:
How can [Democratic Speaker of the House] Nancy Pelosi say unequivocally that water-boarding is torture and that Bush and [Richard] Cheney, the US vice-president, should not only be impeached but they should be charged with war crimes when in 2002 she herself was briefed on water-boarding and shown video of the rendition places where water-boarding happened?
I noted here that Nancy Pelosi was briefed on waterboarding in 2002 and registered no objection. Pelosi most likely saw the evidence and concluded waterboarding could be reasonable in certain situations. She only came out against it when the issue became public and she thought she could use it as a political issue against the GOP. So I guess I actually share Sheehan's view that Pelosi is a gutless wonder. (Photo credit: Al Jazeera)
