UN Secretary-General says Israel has right to defend itself, criticizes Israel for defending itself

The United Nations is beyond parody.

Yesterday, Palestinian terrorists slipped into Israel and killed two Israeli civilians at a fuel depot. Israeli troops responded and killed at least two of the terrorists as they returned to Gaza. Today, the UN Secretary General said Israel has the right to defend itself but criticized Israel for defending itself. Jerusalem Post:

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned on Thursday the terrorist attack at Nahal Oz, where two Israeli civilians were killed a day earlier.

In his announcement, Ban Ki-Moon wrote that "the escalation in the Gaza Strip is of great concern, and Israel does have a right to defend itself."

Nonetheless, he also criticized the IDF for allegedly killing Palestinian civilians in Gaza after the attack.

According to the Secretary-General, "the lives of all civilians must be defended in any confrontation."
