News about departures from the Charlotte Observer is starting to dribble out

Very little news has been coming out about the latest round of layoffs at the Charlotte Observer. Earlier this month, Publisher Ann Caulkins said the Observer planned to eliminate more than 9 percent of its workforce, roughly 75 positions. Since then, other McClatchy newspapers have announced cuts but no announcements have been forthcoming from Charlotte.

Now it looks like the news is staring to dribble out. Yesterday Cision's Media Update had this little tidbit:

Metro Columnist Mary Curtis and Education Reporter Kinea White Epps are no longer with the Charlotte (N.C.) Observer. Since joining the staff in 1994, Curtis had also served as features editor there, and previously worked as a news and features editor for The New York Times since 1985.
