I emailed Modesto Bee Editor Mark Vasche...

I received feedback earlier this week from Modesto Bee subscribers reporting their newspaper was arriving late. Wanting additional information from the Modesto Bee, I emailed editor Mark Vasche and asked if the Bee was aware of newspapers being delivered late, and if so, how extensive was the problem. That was two days ago.

No response from Vasche.

Anybody surprised??

Oh my just wait for the winter time. The valley fog between Sacramento and Modesto will slow the delivery and then there are the accidents on the freeway to watch out for. Im sure at this time Sacramento is so overwhelmed with doing there work and Modesto's work that quality is out the window right now. Sacramento is just trying to get that paper out, Sacramento might have two press's but do they have two plate rooms I'm sure the prepress department is overwhelmed with work. I'm sure in time things will get worked out, It always does. We all hate change but in time the delivery times will get better but the quality well, We will all have to live with The Sacramento Bee's quality standards.

Today's comics in the Scene section is duplicated. This is unexcusable. Never would have the copies been let out of the building when printed in the Modesto Bee pressroom. Then again, why would the printers in Sacramento really care what the Modesto Bee looks like. The Modesto Bee Pressmen took pride in their work, all Sac. Bee boys care about are having jobs.

Hey Annon 11:00 a.m. Funny you should mention David Westphals name again on this blog. Since this mistake was made there has been ALOT of questions for Howard W. We are still waiting for answers from him. Actually, a couple of days now but he remains silent. Let's ask again. Shit Howard, why are you hiring employee's after you laid of several thousand?

Sunday we will see part four of "As the Bee turns"...Vasche's diatribe trying to paint a rosy picture of why the reader should be grateful that they are receiving an inferior product. Well the damage has been done. The pressmen in Modesto are gone and there is no turning back now. The train wreck continues with the Modesto Bee and ALL the other McClatchy papers. Gary Pruitt deserves an award of some type to honor his (pick one) 1.Greed 2.incompetence 3.ability to BS his way to the top 4.fine orchestration in taking the best news company in the business and turning it into a pillar of mediocrity.
Does anybody know if the Modesto Bee draw has gone up or down? Last one we printed was around 80,000.
