Steve Ford, editorial page editor at the News & Observer, says Bill Ayers is nothing but a wacky idealist.
The McCain camp asks with a sinister twist, who's the real Barack Obama? It's a loaded question meant to impugn his mixed heritage, his rapid and unusual rise and his emergence from a cutthroat, big-city political environment. But surely the answer is not to be found in his relationship, such as it was, with the once criminally deluded and perhaps still wackily idealistic Bill Ayers.
John in Carolina isn't buying it.
Ayers tries to bomb the Capital and Pentagon; he encourages and helps train others to bomb government buildings and kill our military and public safety officers; he praises those who do; he boasts he got away with it all (“guilty as hell, free as a bird”); he says at the time of Sept. 11 he didn’t do enough terrorism; and he’s never repented any of it.
Exit questions for Obama booster Steve Ford: do you know anyone who set off bombs at government buildings and never apologized? Do you know anyone who has stomped on the American flag? I think voters are entitled to know why Barack Obama continued associating with this cretin after discovering the depth of his hatred of the USA.

This is the kind of editorial that causes people to cancel subscriptions. Steve Ford pretty well defines arrogant asshole and Steve Ford is one of the main reasons the newspaper industry is soon to be a thing of the past.
Has anybody seen a McClatchy evaluation of what kind of cabinet a President Obama would have versus the kind of cabinet a President McCain would have?
I haven't seen McClatchy look at that issue... is it possible McClatchy is avoiding scrutiny of issues where Obama is weak?

Um, if Bill Ayers is the best argument you all have got, you're really screwed. Opprobrium doesn't replace ideas.
Poor McCain looks pretty tired these days.It's bad enough to lose, but to shame yourself in the process .... ouch.

Face it: Obama is a thug masquerading as an agent of change.
Obama has said from the primaries that his lack of experience shouldn't matter, that we should look at his judgment.
So, now when we look at his judgment, i.e. paling around with terrorists, racists and crooks, we're called bigots.

These sort of slimy, ad hominem arguments have had their day. The Republicans -- forget about the past two terms of incompetence and misrule -- are flat out of ideas. And we've got real problems. Often, the conservative way is the best way. But there are so few Republicans left who can formulate a credible argument.They are either hateful, religious zealots, or utterly discredited.
I saw the other day where bankers as a class are going for Democrats 2 to 1. How the heck can the Republicans lose the bankers?

You know, you really should restrict yourself to McClatchy news. That's the only way you are credible - and useful.
Your incessant whining about the most inept Republican presidential candidate in decades - and the most blatantly unqualified, dishonest veep choice in centuries - is really tiresome and vacant.
No kidding. It gets hard to sort out the political BS from the actual McC news -- and quite often one shades the other to the point of uselessness.
It's a great demonstration of why blogs will never supplant professional journalism, though.
I don't agree with the "Watch" political view but it is their blog. If you don't like their view skip reading that portion.
