-- Third layoff round at McClatchy’s Kansas City Star: The Kansas City Star’s newspaper and site may very well be the leaders in its market, as Publisher Mark Zieman says in this memo, that’s not going to prevent the paper from issuing a round of 50 layoffs. In all, McClatchy Watch noted that the paper cut 120 jobs in June, and another 65 posts in September at the McClatchy-owned pub.
There may be more to come. I was contacted by a reporter from a business publication earlier this week who is doing a story on McClatchy; we'll see if my blog get a mention there.
.
Now back to regularly scheduled activities.

At this point I am lost for words on the KC Star.....it doesn't matter to anybody there what we think. 40years, 30years,20years of working there so what. Get lost is their reply.
Their liberal agenda trumps everything, including staying in business.
Well, congratulations on the mention. You're doing much better than McClatchy! No one goes to them for facts. bwhahahhaha
9:53 heh
There is speculation that another 50 employees will be offered a "voluntary" buyout before the end of the year. The source has called every work reduction right so far.
