Kansas City Star gets snookered, publishes comedian's parody as news

Mistaking humor for reality, Kansas City Star's The Buzz got snookered by comedian Andy Borowitz, printing a portion of the comedian's parody as a news item. Here is the bogus quote as initially published in The Buzz:
“Every time someone says ‘team of rivals,’ I sell another book on Amazon. Team of rivals, team of rivals, team of rivals.” — author Doris Kearns Goodwin.
But Doris Kearns Goodwin never said this; the quote was taken from a parody by comedian Andy Borowitz.
.
The Star later published this embarassing admission:
A quote in The Buzz on Nov. 28 that was attributed to historian Doris Kearns Goodwin was actually from humorist Andy Borowitz.
Read the full Borowitz parody item here, then ask yourself how anybody could read this and think it was for real.

Hat tip: Regret the Error

I love it but this will just mean more hits to their web site. The'll love it.

Eh...Prime Buzz is a colossal failure. They actually tried to charge a couple hundred bucks to access it. Now it is just a couple of resident loons and a couple of people that like to torment them.

Besides, the Star just willingly cut their own hit counts with their newly implemented comments for the regular pages. Their so called 4 million readers will drop like a stone now.

This blunder can't be blamed on the subcontractors in India.

It's tough to attribute a quote to Doris because one never knows where she stole it from.
