Nationwide, jobless claims are the highest they've been in 26 years. Here at home, the picture is not good.
A new list of layoffs out Thursday shows that in just Wake and Durham Counties, 300 have lost their jobs - or will soon - in just the last two months.
Among the biggest is the News and Observer, which cut 75 people. IBM let 38 go, Optimal Technology cut 35, and Esteves Concrete has laid off 34.
This blog is mainly about the spectacular train wreck at The Sacramento Bee and its parent company, the McClatchy Company. But I also post about current events, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, politics, anything else that grabs my attention. Take a look around this blog, hope you enjoy it.
