Tale of 2 headlines

The spectre of the Obama team clearing itself of wrong doing in the Blagojevich matter has made for some funny headlines.

The folks at the LA Times Blog realize the absurdity of the Obama team clearing itself, and respond with this headline: Obama team probe of Obama team finds no Obama team impropriety

Not getting the absurdity, the News & Observer treats the findings as something to take seriously. John and Carolina describes the N&O's headlines:

"The front page of the 12/24 N&O has a small lead-in headline in bold and capitals:
"That's followed by, in normal size and print:
Emmanuel was the only one of Obama's team to have a direct talk, but there was no dealing, internal report concludes
"Readers are then directed to more of the story on pg 3A. There, the two-column-wide headlines read:
Contact with Blagojevich called clean

Internal inquiry finds only 'innocent' discussions

with the Illinois leader over Obama's Senate seat
"But of course."
