The screaming and gnashing of teeth throughout the Kansas City area today was delivered compliments of the Kansas Star newspaper.Just a few days ago, the KC Star printed a stock table that was 10 days old. I wouldn't be surprised if these mistakes are the work of disgruntled employees.
The area's leading newspaper committed the unpardonable sin of repeating the same New York Times crossword puzzle two straight days.
Those in the newspaper business are well-aware that crossword puzzle aficionados are, to put it kindly, insane.
Unfortunately, the Times does not provide today's puzzle for free online, so that is not an option.
The Star is trying to figure out how to make up for the error. Good luck.

It's the result of cutbacks, layoffs, outsourcing, all that fun jazz the big wigs do to keep their pockets full when times are tough. I work for a McClatchy newspaper, the amount of work my department has to do now and still keep up the quality is absurd. And still, the hits keep on coming. People often say "at least you still have a job", though I'm starting to wonder how much the stress and abuse is worth that comment.
IMO, the unpardonable sin was printing anything from the New York Times in the first place.
The KC Red Star readers wouldn't know the difference. One puzzle a month would keep them busy.
Bwahahahahahaha
9:19 If you don't like your job quit. Poor baby too much stress...give me a break. This is why the newspaper is in such trouble. I hate to tell you the "quality" left long ago.
10:41 Because everybody in the world just *loves* their perfect, problem-free job. If you don't *love* your job, you're a liberal whiner.
If the KC Tar needs advice on what to do about the X-werd Puz, they should consult their sister paper...The Modesto Bee and see what they do when this happens...and it does happen more often than they wish. They shouldn't have another paper print their paper...Sac Bee pages in the Mod Bee and Vise versa...wrong comics, wrong or no cross word puzzle, OLD NEWS...UNACCEPTABLE!
I think McClatchy will keep just enough talent to keep their rags up and running. The talent will work like dogs to keep their jobs, (and no one blames them for that) then a furlough will knock their wages down. Just enough talent (at a time) to keep going. Employees with lots of energy (describes as the right attitude) will be key. After a couple of furloughs, some of the newer hires will be working for about minimum wage. It sounds depressing, but it seems to be the plan du jour.
As long as the Red Scar publishes Rhonda Lokeman’s crude columns, they are scumlords, just scumlords!
How about another picture of Jason? That fills a page, or two.
Hey fix the headline: 2 Days in a room...with "row." We don't want to look stupid if Pruitt logs in.
10:52 Yep a "liberal whiner" you got that right. What do you call a "wonder how much the stress and abuse is worth"? A liberal whiner.
A typo doesn’t make anyone look stupid, a citizen editor points it out, and the blogger fixes it. It is called a shared blog. Perhaps that concept eludes people from the old media.
I'm guessing the whiners expect big brother to come save the day. Which means they want my money in their pocket. Barry won't let them down, he cut his teeth on Socialism.
The KC Scar is the worst McCrappy paper, hands down.
Z-man should get fired right along with Pru.
Rhonda Lokeman slurs (“tyranny”) a transgender woman, and gee-whiz, “I’m so sorry” and the internet is scrubbed of her offensive remark. She calls a black woman, “Nappy head” and gee-whiz, she can say that because she is an AA. What a crock she is. What a crock this double standard is for white people. Poor Imas, you can’t say the same damn thing!
4:43 The KC Star maybe McCrappy paper but it makes the most money of all the papers hands down..

Not only is that not true, it should also be noted that the KC Star has the biggest liability burden of all McClatchy papers. The fact is, if the Scar disappeared tomorrow, MNI's debt burden would dip below 2 billion.
Thanks for playing Derreck.
10:18 You don't know what your talking about. Take some accounting classes.
I'm sure as soon as Derek Donovan was notified, he 1)would think it was funny 2)won't know what to do 3)make an excuse for the paper 4)blog about it because he's cool.
But the customers? Get over it
7:58 are you trying to be funny? You missed.
