The difference between this blog and the Gannett Blog by Jim Hopkins is that the Gannett Blog actually provides employees and former employees with real news and information about the company that employs them or used to employee them.

5:16: I'm inclined to agree more and more. This site is becoming just an echo of redstate, lgb and other radical right-wing sites. Disappointing.

The first two comments are off-topic. These jerks just want to have the first comments so everyone has to read their garbage. Old trick - Dump them.

5:47 Not really intentional. I just regret that this has become only incidentally about The McClatchy Company, and is now primarily about conservatives railing against "that danged liberal media." Excuse me for bringing it up.

My feelings are the same as 5:47. I come here for news about McClatchy and find less and less of it. Again take a look at the Gannett blog. Jim reported the one week furloughs for all employees before Gannett announced them.

Anonymous 5:47 -- these guys come to my blog several times a day, and when they leave comments it's always the same complaint. One sign this blog is making an impact is these people keep coming back.

Anons. 5:16, 5.36
Did you read the topic?
Do you not understand, staying on topic?
I have never read that this is a blog for McClatchy employees, it is about exposing McClatchy for the biased rag they have become.

The blog owner chooses his topics from current news, which is a format followed by many.

If you don't like the topic, go elsewhere. Many blogs will not allow off-topic children to ruin the good comments.

Read the topic:
McClatchy, CNN, ABC, NBC and CBS win an award--
How does your garbage belong anywhere in this blog?

Congrats! This blog is starting to get the Obamababoon moonbats into a tizzy.

May it continue to survive and may McClatchy go bankrupt!

Anonymous 6:32 -- thanks. By the way, I get hundreds of hits every day from McClatchy company computers. And the numbers are growing -- January might be the biggest month ever for McClatchy Watch.

A big part of the reason McClatchy is going down the tubes is because of their liberal bias.

People sitting at their breakfast table reading another mindless left wing editorial parading as a news item don't get pissed off and cancel their subscription because they don't like Gary Pruitt. They do it because arrogant assholes write their mindless garbage and it pisses them off.

McClatchy stock down another 14% today,

I have been thinking about this a lot, and I really do think that the extreme bias, which leads to grossly inaccurate and skewed reporting, is at least part of the reason that newspapers are failing right and left.

The reason this blog is important is because it is focused mainly (albeit not exclusively) on how the media spinout looks from this vantage point. It is one piece of the puzzle.

It seems there are a few more freaks and losers haunting this board since the weblog awards brought so much attention to M-Watch. I think we're all hoping this will subside -- but not too much, because the traffic is a net plus.

If there are former (or current) McClatchy employees lurking, they should try to contribute if possible.

I think most of the people who read this blog daily would prefer that media companies NOT fail. I suspect quite a few of us have journalism degrees that were earned before the diploma became a career stain rather than an accomplishment.

McClatchy employees who are laid off or at risk probably have plenty of Pity Party sites they can go to similar to the one the Seattle P-I set up or they can wail on angryjournalist.com

I come to this site to read about the journalistic malpractice by a large institution of the MSM.

9:26 "I think most of the people who read this blog daily would prefer that media companies NOT fail."

I would prefer that media companies that truly understand the value of honest information not fail.

When slimy propaganda operators like McClatchy fail, I'm only too happy to piss on their grave

The operator of this blog has never made his politics a secret and has a right to operate it as he sees fit. Period.
Everybody who works at my property knows about this blog and checks it with some regularity, despite its tone.
A newspaper is a big place with lots of job descriptions that have nothing to do with setting the tone of the political coverage. In the newsroom, those include education and neighborhood reporters, police and crime writers, and obituary writers. It also includes pressmen, ad sales people, accountants, carpenters and drivers.
I think the first two posters would like to find a place to see the kind of up-to-the minute information we find here -- this is a wonderful place for that -- without the dreary attitude that everything we do is hateful and wrong.
This simply is not that place and they need to understand that.

Looking at the ‘topic’ site, ‘Little Green Footballs’ humorously staged a mock award for slanted news reporting. There is a clever cartoon as well.

One of the comments was informing the readers of a new book. Bernie Goldberg is generally credited for exposing bias at CBS news. His latest book sounds like a winner as well. I have included the blurb.

Comment: This seems like a good place to post the link to Bernard Goldberg's new book,

-A Slobbering Love Affair: The True (And Pathetic) Story of the Torrid Romance Between Barack Obama and the Mainstream Media-

Do the mainstream media have a liberal bias? Sure they do, everyone knows that, says CBS veteran and New York Times bestselling author Bernard Goldberg. But the media crossed an important line in the 2008 presidential race, moving from their usual unthinking liberal bias to crass partisanship of the crudest kind, practically acting as spin doctors for the presidential campaign of Barack Obama.
