This blog is mainly about the spectacular train wreck at The Sacramento Bee and its parent company, the McClatchy Company. But I also post about current events, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, politics, anything else that grabs my attention. Take a look around this blog, hope you enjoy it.

Light blogging
Blogging is light because I'm away from home enjoying snow in the Sierras. It's beautiful here. I skied yesterday at Dodge Ridge. I'll have more for you Monday. . .

Maria Henson Deputy Editorial Page Editor at The Sacramento Bee writes perhaps all the laid off state workers, makes her commute faster.
She advises laid off workers to play, have a little fun. No mention of how to pay for this new found fun.
We need to keep track of Maria’s job, and see if she enjoys her upcoming permanent furlough, so we can write a note telling her to enjoy her time off, to have a little fun. ---------- February 6, 2009 Furloughs = Smooth commute Maria Henson [Snips] With the rain this morning, I braced myself for another stop-and-go commute from Camino near Apple Hill. Today, the cars were rolling swiftly at 8:15 a.m., heading toward Sacramento on Hwy. 50.
[I had to wonder if an absence of state workers on the highway made my path to The Bee clear.]
If you've been told to skip work, why not play? In these days of disruption, all those furloughed workers deserve a little fun.
I took many a trip to Tahoe as a young lad and learned to ski at Dodge and Sugar Bowl. Add that to my quest to conquer "The Wall" at Kirkwood Meadows and I am reminded of happier, much easier times.
If someone could tell me that I would have a job in a month or two, then maybe I would play. But, as a laid off Star-Tele reporter, it's been not exactly a fun time trying to find a job. And the recreation I can afford (TV, watching the clouds go by) is getting old.
Well, well, well...It seems the KC Star has finally decided to remove Ron da Lokeman from their Opinion Columnist list, moved Derrick Donovan into it, and retained Vice President of Stirring Racial Hatred Lewis Duiguid.
Good job Star. I know that much was hard for you to do.

Maybe Marla would like to trade places...
I'm unable to find the Maria Henson column of Feb 6. Could someone provide a link so i might read the column in its entirety?
Damn Les. I don't believe you just posted that.
