Service-based advertisers such as Monster (MWW), CareerBuilder, Cars.com and E-trade (ETFC) actually saw notable declines in site reach on the day of the game. Here is the ad:
Looks like the money invested in running this ad was a waste. McClatchy is a part-owner of Career Builder, along with majority owner Gannett.

At 3 million dollars a pop,
CareerBuilder ranked No. 23 of 26
No. 1: Dennys; No. 26: eTrade.
Consistency is their middle name.
What was the quote about the confidence with the idiot at the helm or tiller?
Please do we have to look at this picture all day....I'm about to vomit. It reminds me too much of Derek Donovan. juck!

That was a seriously poor commercial. It looked unprofessional to me. I would have rather had something where people found work. It could have been fun/happy, like a solution to losing your job. This is no laughing matter to a lot of people. If these admen are such hotshots, why not an uplifting message that was clever as well? Above their pay grade?
It was a stupid commercial. Just stupid.
McClatchy has become a bottom-feeder. Who would expect anything but sludge from them?
I can't believe they paid 3 million for that ad! Did they have more than one spot? Gannett was a partner in this sad failure, right?
Wow, why is it that no one else's commerical is hated on in this blog? Why the bitterness people. The traffic comes the day and week's after, not the day of. People are watching the game, not stressing about life and work, not looking for a job. CB paid the money, its paid it self off in the past, why would it be different this year, especially in this economy? They could have ran an add of the tards on this site, bitching about life and traffic would still increase to the site because of the economy. Seriously people?
Anon 10:18,
Yesterday, ‘Seeking Alpha’ ran a complete follow-up scorecard on the Super Bowl commercials. This blog had nothing to do with CB being near the bottom. Many posters on this blog thought the ad was poorly done, and accomplished nothing. Turns out, they were right. That is a bitter pill for someone like you making accusations without merit. Come back often ya hear?
In the CB commercial, that unhinged woman screaming, still works for McClatchy. Who wouldn't be screaming?
The guy walking by saying, “Hey Dummy” - He means the people still working for newspapers I think.
That woman screaming looks just like Melanie Sill to me. I wonder if Mel took a pay cut, and is moonlighting?
Did anyone else notice the glistening pectoral muscles of the swimsuit dude? Of course he was a tad pale, but I would swear I saw that enchanting, lithe, athletic, charming, debonair, suave, physical specimen before, but where?
Gary Pruitt probably wrote the CB ad, it has his smell of failure about it.
You ask: “What was the quote about the confidence with the idiot at the helm or tiller?”
Howard Weaver is the guy who said he was confident of MNI’s future with Pru’s hand on the tiller. Of course Howie has moved on down the highway, crossed over a burning bridge, and is “f**king tired” of something or the other.
Shhhhhh! About Howie on this blog, someone will yell at you. They are F**king tired of hearing about how f**king tired Howie is.
