Star-Telegram says "no vacations" to pressmen March 16 through 29 -- update: Charlotte tells pressmen no PTO til July

From comments:
Pressman have been told that Mar. 16 thru Mar. 29 no vacations can be taken. The book is closed. Something is fixin' to happen.
This could be nothing more than a response to short-staffing. Maybe it's something else. What do you think?

UPDATE: Looks like Charlotte is doing the same thing.
same thing at the charlotte obs, no pto from march till july, we start the rock hill production today, and will need all pressman to cover the press runs... with the 35+pressman each having 3/4 weeks vacation each, there is not enought year left for all the men to use the time, so if you dont use it you lose it.

You wouldn’t have everyone working during a week you were going to file chapter 11, so that isn’t it.

What about thinking there might be a strike because of the guild? Then you would need all hands on deck.

Sounds like a final, “Pulling out all the stops” just before the bitter end, as in the storming of the Bastille or the Reichstag.

Maybe they're planning a farewell edition.

March 16th to the 29th. They're expecting a large layoff to occur and this will preempt anyone from using vacation time to tax the system.

Texas is a right-to-work state.
Those are also weeks of annual spring breaks in DFW area.
Probably not worth attention.
